1977 Jaguar XJ6. Some of you may remember me making a thread several months ago about this car...The deal at that time was that my friend's dad (the owner) was going to pull the engine and transmission, take the rear end and the rims and sell me the rest for $50. He kept saying "Next week, next week" over and over, I gave up, and the other day I got the call that he was tired of looking at it so he'd sell me the whole car plus tons of spare parts in his garage for $200.

Most of the things you see off the car are in his garage (including that fender), though it is missing front and rear bumpers, the grille, the hood and trunk emblems, and I believe the headlights as well as several misc. parts. The body is absolutely solid, not a dent on the thing and one small spot of rust behind the right rear wheel. The motor still turns over and he said as far as he knew the only thing it would need was two new fuel pumps and the regular fuel system flush and maybe the carbs cleaned.

I have more pics on my camera, but can't find my cord, so here's one from my cell as a taster:

That was the plan originally, but I was figuring that the engine was locked up...Guess I'll see what's going on with the engine and figure it out from there.

this car calls, no, SCREAMS for either a small-block Chevrolet V8 or an LS1 with most certainly a manual transmission.

Yeah, they just kept updating it over the years like the Porsche 911. But now they've done away with the style. It's probably for the better, because with cars like the S-Type Jaguar began to seem extremely conservative in the early 2000s. Now they're being bold again.

You have a garage to work out of? Does look pretty solid but it always seems Jag projects turn into suicide. But to be fair, when they are done and done right, they are fucking sweet! I would turn the stock engine into a coffee table ala Top Gear.

I honestly thought about the engine block coffee table

Though this one isn't a 12, it's the dohc 6.

And yep, got two garage bays at my disposal, solid floor and one with a pit underneath to get under the car.

hehehe... I'm making a coffee table from a Tercel 3EE engine. Not quite as sexy as a Jag engine, but it'll be a hell of a lot easier to move.

Quad 4's aren't even good for boat anchors.
them and the 2.4L TC's should be melted down for scrap.

oh how I detest those engines.

even still, it's going to be an expensive car to own. if you want to put any miles on it, suspension/steering/brake upkeep is going to be $$$$
