Yeah. Tell that to all them guys out there in the world of Pre running. Driver skill > vehicle. I have taken an zx2 escort places that buddies in Jeeps have backed off of. He can do a lot with that lil Nissan. The most important thing is learn skills to keep him from always having to use the "magic get me unstuck" leaver.

you use your head, know your ride better than yourself and you can make it do things that it never was intended to do without breakage.
I had a 91 Cavalier that doubled as an offroad machine... there wasn't anywhere that little shit wouldn't go.

The tires I got are considered a highway tread. They seem to do dirt roads perfectly fine. With the extra weight of a bed in the back, I don't see having any problems with anything short of a mud pit.

The model of tires is Michelin X Radial LT. They still have plenty of tread. I think the lack of even an AT tire will teach me a lot more than jumping in a Jeep that can get even an idiot out of a sticky situation.

Most of what I need to do is a lot closer to prerunning than anything else.

I'm a lot like you guys that have taken FWD vehicles where people won't take a vehicle that's built for the terrain. I've never done it with a RWD vehicle, so it will be a different experience for me.

I still need to figure out the clutch situation. It doesn't disengage until almost the floor. I can't adjust it out any more, and I can absolutely confirm there's no air in the system. I'm at the point where I think I might just replace the master and slave cylinders with better units. I know the clutch has some miles on it, but I don't think this is clutch related.

Yeah lets compare everyday driving (5-40mph) to prerunning (60-120mph, +). Riiiiight guys, all wrong.

The only time I've ever wished for 4wd is when I was going slower tham about 10 mph. Keeping speed up isn't an issue.

I think I'll be fine with what I have now. After seeling the truck sitting up where it should, I know that up is the right direction for me. Remember that this is a mild trails rig. Once I can afford insurance on my Honda, the truck won't even be daily driven.
