Verdict is in... total damage amounts to $4019.64.

Keep in mind that I'm not a body shop estimator when I say this but, how in the world did they come up with that figure? Are they estimating an entire front clip? Or, is there more damage than the pics show?

Well, hopefully the other guy's insurance takes the hit and not yours. Good luck!

Four grand? It's cosmetic! a little bondo, some sandpaper, spack of touchup paint and a lotta elbow grease and you can do it yourself for ... 30 bucks?

LOL... it didn't catch on fire. It got attacked by a velociraptor.

It's a body shop our family has used for years, so I definitely trust them. I claimed it to my insurance, who will then go after his insurance company and get their money and my deductible back. Sure it's only cosmetic, but the car is also only 2 years old, and it's fucked up because of this asshat. If it was a few years older, I'd probably just consider it a casualty of having to drive 40k a year.

It's actually worse than the pictures look. It needs a new hood, bumper cover, headlights, grill, windshield, emblems, and the fenders have to be re-sprayed. Tack on labor and paint, and you can see where the 4k comes from...

Labor must be 80% of that.

i had a truck hauling rocks pelt my 96 Cavalier, destroying the windshield and dinging the hood (which i had just painted)... I called the company (Carrara Concrete in Middlebury VT), gave them the truck #, trailer #, VT Tag number and they told me good luck. I called the VT State Police and they said that construction trucks weren't responsible for road damage.

that cost me about $500 in damages.
fuckers.

Were i live theres a law ..A truck hauling a lose load must be covered..I have my class A CDL and been told the law..So if something blow out of my chevy kodak bucket truck... I are responsible for the damage..

They sell touch up paint for a reason.

Id rather drive around with FATASS etched in my paint, then use touchup paint.

Old thread...

Ha. Thanks, but I drove a truck for several years and I commute 40k a year. I know how far to stay back. It's a different story when the driver doesn't close his gate and you're on the interstate.
