you all know that my love of all things GM (except the Asstek) borders on religious mania... but there is a reason for the love.
It's snowing like it's an apocalyptic movie here and the Beretta got me home from work... then it got me down the street, to the deli, to my brothers' and home again. I am sorry... in the snow, it's GM or nothing. Accept no substitute.

yes, I know... Subie Subie Subie! Quattro Quattro Quattro!!!
I just cannot believe how well a 14 year old car goes in the snow on shitty Korean mystery tires.

Agreed... 2wd is fine in the winter if you know how to drive.

The girlfriend and I did a 10 hour/600km all night rally saturday night and came in 8th overall in a group of 50 cars, 90% of which were Subarus.

My friend who rallies a turbo legacy said he thought he was doing awesome, till he saw my car blow out of a corner sideways in his mirror and come right up behind him.

I had a BLAST.

exactly... i have a lack of tire on the front of the Beretta, but as soon as it understeers, hello ebrake! just a quick stab of the ebrake, initiate a little bit of a slide to bring the front end back in line, little bit of sideways through the corner while accelerating... the Beretta is a hair more stable in a slide than my last Cavalier.

I drilled through my e brake handle so I can stick a pin through it to keep the button depressed, preventing accidentally locking it while doing a hooligan turn.

the way a GM ebrake handle is designed, i've never had one lock on me.
the ones' on the Lumina and Monte Carlo were on the floor and were the push on- push off variety that sucked if you were just trying to get a little compensated oversteer going.

Why don't you think aboot puttin' turning brakes on the rear. these alow me to hang the ass end of my buggy out to dry at will, no matter what type of surface I'm on. I've got a push pull lever, it looks just like a normal E-brake. Sort of.

drum brakes are the best for doing ghetto slides... the discs on the back of my Cobalt SS just don't grab right for it. I could never get that car to slide right, but the drum-braked 05 could.

My Grand Am does really nicely in the snow...better than my Sable did. And much better than my Camaro or Mustang ever did...but those two sucked because of RWD.

my grand prix and 2 J bodies are great in the snow. when i had the aerostar i put a second hand brake handle in and rigged one handle for the right wheel the other for the left
that way i could lock the spinning wheel and get out of snow

I know what you are talking about with those mystery Korean tires. I had a set on the Caravan and actually, they worked great in the snow.

Forget mystery Korean tires, even some of the North American tires are junk!
I have a seriously high count for entry level vehicles arriving for new rubber after a year or two on the roaed. i see it frequently on Civics, Corollas, Cobalts, Kia's, Hyundais & Focus's
bald after 40-50km and customers that are MIGHTY pissed

i sent GM 16lbs of hate mail over the factory tires on my 05 Cobalt... they were fucking junk. Not even good for anything in a RAIN storm. Continental Conti-Tracs.... my asscrack has more grip and wear than those pieces of shit.
