I have reason to believe it's going to be cracked with the wrecking ball soon. From what it looks the hardest part of entry will be climbing a fence.

I have dedicated tomorrow, friday, saturday, and sunday to UE and will be definitely stopping here one of these days. Weather is of no consequence to me. Given it's size and age I think this building will be the highlight of my weekend. I'd like to predawn it or do it in the early afternoon.

Another location I plan to hit is Gilbeys Gin in Hartwell. There's several easy entrances. It looks to be very long abandoned and is pretty beat up. I'll be doing this as a side mission when I do Stearns.

If anybody wants to come along you're totally welcome.

The guy who is the caretaker for Stearns lives very close and keeps a good eye on it. I've heard of a few people getting caught in there.

As for Gilbey's: http://zfein.com/p...hy/mill/index.html

I'm a bit too busy this weekend to do any exploring. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up. In that case if I go it will definitely be a predawn trip. I doubt he's dedicated enough to be checking on it at 5 am. My luck though that's probably precisely when he swoops by. I'll just have to do this with the same cautiousness i gave to American Can.

And sweet deal about Gilbeys and excellent photos.

I don't know if I'm dedicated enough to go anywhere at 5 AM. Usually the only way I'm up that early, is if I'm actually up that late.

Actually, I could do it for a good enough reason, and a tromp through a soon-to-be-leveled building is good enough for me.

Stearns is alarmed and has electricity.

The caretaker lives nearby and he doesn't mind stealing your cameras and then calling the cops on you. The doors are all locked and sealed -- and I mean, every door, window, opening. I tried for years, and ended up paying off the guy to get in.

Oh then I'm not touching this with a 20 foot pole. I don't do alarms, and I just got this camera. I wouldn't mind paying to check it out sometime though if I can ever get ahold of the guy.

Bummer... the good news, however, is that you don't need to wake up before five AM. ;)

Gilbey's and that complex in general should be okay. The southernmost end is still used by Jim Beam, although it will be closing within a few months. It's pretty easy to climb up onto the roof and get into the central buildings that way. Plus the roofs are cool to climb onto themselves.

I'm excited about the rooftops. Given it's placement the view should be decent. And I only saw one building. Didn't know it was a whole complex. It definitely looks interesting.

What did you get?

My friend sold me her old D40X for 200. I don't like it nearly as much as my Rebel T2, but it'll do for now. Right now I'm just happy to finally be shooting digital.
