So one of my closest friends acted in a series of events that caused me and my lady to part ways for at least a temporary period. I can trace each of his actions to specific bad decisions and lies on his part; bad decisions that I had warned him against and lies that covered them. He also put a project that I was contracted on in jeopardy because of his poor judgment and my trust in him. I recently challenged him to a duel, but am left wondering if this was the right course of action. So far he has declined. Still, I do demand satisfaction, but I think that duels might now be uncustomary and socially awkward. At the same time I think the only way to save the friendship and relationship is to laugh at each others gaping wounds. Is a Duel ever socially acceptable in the modern era?

This is most certainly the proper course of action. I myself am quite behind on my battles to the death (although certainly still prepared for them).

how did you have this in mind? The gun part of it might no longer be socially acceptable, but a well-planned fistfight might be a good thing - if you want retalliation.

If your goal is to win said lady back, you might want to go more for a 3 trials thing, where each of the parties involved picks a trial.

The goal isn't to win the lady back, fighting won't do that, but recover honor and deal with a grievous insult.

I met the both of them separately and long after their divorce. They're still good friends and have even lived together after they split. He is a psychopath when he's drunk and had pulled a gun on me/ attacked me with a mace, but we're blood brothers. He's my second in this duel though, not the friend I'm up against. That's another mess of exes.

even the lame art duel was too much for him because he didn't feel safe... He backed out and looks like a pussy, but I look insane to his friends because he has the time to socialize and play up what a crazy asshole I am.
