Here are some that I liked.

The Devil and Daniel Johnston
http://www.youtube...atch?v=2qtFPOxDMs4

Dig!
http://www.youtube...atch?v=84oiQJ1N9To

The Minutemen - We Jam Econo
http://www.youtube...atch?v=77ZmpOCqkOA

American Hardcore
http://www.youtube...atch?v=l1ZnFT2qAJU

Anvil! The Story of Anvil
http://www.youtube...atch?v=FF4H8lB2Y_o

I find that most people (that I know anyways) only care about the music and not about the people that make it. Are there others that enjoy a good documentary about musicians and if so what are your favourites?

I liked No Direction Home, about Bob Dylan. Wetlands Preserved was interesting, too, but because of copyright they could only show a little actual performance. It was about the Wetlands Preserve club in NYC. The Kids Are Alright (The Who) was excellent as well, and I'm not a huge Who fan.

And then there's Spinal Tap and the Rutles.

I saw No Direction Home and really liked it. I also saw Amazing Journey: The Story of the Who (also really good) but not The Kids are Alright. I am going to track down a copy of Wetlands Preserved, I never heard of it before but it looks interesting.

I checked torrent sites but no luck and no netflix in Canada (as far as I know)so I'll have to check zip.ca. Another really good one I watched was Prog Rock Britannia - An Observation in Three Movements which I downloaded a while back and you can get it here http://thepirateba...in_Three_Movements if interested.

Thanks to this thread I ordered a copy of We Jam Econo from amazon.com for only 11 bucks. Econo indeed!

The Minutemen - such a great band.

Demonoid's got it, according to btjunkie.org, but at Demonoid's site I can't find it. Isohunt turned it up in a torrent with a bunch of others:

http://isohunt.com...served?tab=summary

But at 2.9MB, I don't think it's the whole thing. I'll see if I can get it and upload it somewhere for you. Have you tried your local library?

the Decline Of Western Civilization-Part 1'
You See me Laughin'

Two of my favorite music Docs, You See Me Laughin' is a must see.
And indeed, American Hardcore is a run down of the music of my childhood.

I checked Demonoid and the torrent had 0 seeders and 0 leechers and zip.ca didn't have it. I never thought to check the library so that's next. Thanks

the Decline Of Western Civilization-Part 1' was great. I have it on vhs somewhere but I am afraid to play it in my vcr because the last tape I played (a long time ago) got chewed. I wish I could find it somewhere on DVD (Last time I checked it was never released) or divx. I found a .mpg torrent on isohunt that I might try but the quality will probably be terrible...only 167 MB, seems too small for good quality.

Alan Cross has been tracking the evolution (and origins) of (alt rock) music, for a really long time now. i think he still does a weekly radio show that airs on several stations in the toronto area.

Great show. I used to listen to it all the time. About a year ago my friend found a torrent with all of the ongoing history shows to date, I am going to see if I can find an updated torrent with more recent shows.
