Sadly, this happened after the June of last year, so I had nothing to take pictures with.
There's a large semi-industrial compound near where I live. The place has two 24-hour security buildings and as per my observations, there are cars and vans passing through every couple of hours all throughout the night.
Anyway, one day from the street I notice a roughly 3-storey building, about 20 meters from the main security outpost, and I think to myself: that's just an office building, it must be inactive at night...
Some nights later, at about 4:30am on a monday (bad timing I know), I'm sneaking towards the large gob of light behind the building. I hide behind a bush right across a little road from the building, and am surprised by several things:
- the whole place is lit up like a normal city street
- the building has the A/C on and it's
very loud (I suddenly realize this is the source of that noise I sometimes hear
from home)
- the back side of the building has all sorts of switchboxes with green and red LEDs blinking on them and looks quite different from a normal office building
While scanning for security devices near the main door, I couldn't help noticing the large black-on-yellow BIOHAZARD sign on it, and the sign next to the door saying:
Pharmacensored Ltd.
Research Laboratory
Ooooookay, I think to myself... this is definitely not worth it. I look at the security building about 3 seconds' worth of running time away from me, with the security guard inside. I start sneaking the other way, hopping from bush to bush along the perimeter of the building, and start thinking - this is an active pharmaceutical laboratory, it's now a little past 5AM on a monday, the security guard is *right there*, and I've even got illegal substances
(plant material) on me.
This is definitely so
so not worth i-
IS THAT A LADDER?!!!
After a roughly 0.6-second period of rational thought, I go for it.
It's a good 60 to 70 seconds of being
completely exposed from both sides while I speedclimb up the ladder to the very top. The roof is full of all shapes and sizes of air conditioning units, air vents, several different lightning rods and the lighting for the access road below. I sneak about for a bit, and curse myself for breaking that poor little camera.
After a few minutes I notice a rather large silver Audi drive quickly into the compound, right past the security outpost, and park next to the lab.
Must be some scientist dude coming in for a very early shift, I think to myself, convinced that he will just walk inside and stay in there while I make my escape.
I carefully look out over the ledge towards the security outpost, and notice that its door is
wide open and the security guard is walking
right towards me. I quickly pull back and deliberate on the best course of action...
a) I climb down, and I will get caught.
b) I stay put, the guard climbs up, and I will get caught.
c) I stay put, a police car will soon show up, and I will get caught.
Realizing that my spectrum of available choices is NOT FUCKING SHINY - I might as well stay put and enjoy my limited time up here until options B or C catch up with me. So I sit down behind a larger air vent, and start rolling a joint.
Before I could really start, though, the intense smell of airborne chemicals hits my nose, and I realize I should probably not get too close to these "air" vents again.
I refrained from sharing this story with you guys plainly because without pictures, I myself would not believe it, and I had nothing to take pictures with. I don't want to bore you guys and it's already a little (read: very) long, so I'll just stop now, and if anyone's interested in how it continued I'll write it down.
In any case, if any of you happen to get to Central Europe in your travels, be sure to get in touch and I'll show you some cool places in Hungary, but if I ask "how crazy are you" while talking about a location,
SAY NO.
