I love how gratifying it is to see a lot of people who explore are also badass illustrators/sculptors/what have you as well. Seriously awesome.

Here's some of my crap. Gotta say, I miss art school. Hope to go back for my MFA sooner rather than later.

I work in any medium I can get my hands on, but much like with my photography, digital is favorite.

Because it's not a party until a snail is wearing a hat.

I also like to work with metal (welding, annealing, etc) and have learned some pretty amazing (and toxic) processes to oxidize it. Though I may need to take up scrapping to support my metal habit, as the price of copper is insane now and I can't often afford to work with it anymore.

Wow, Lovely art! I love the snail with a hat ;)

Holy shit woman! Wonderful stuff

And Avius! Are you a fan of Gustave Dore? You look like you would be awesome at etching/engraving.

Thanks! Gustave Dore is my one true art hero. I've got books and books of his stuff. Unfortunately I am way too ADD to actually do etching/engraving. I could never sit there and concentrate on one thing for weeks on end; I have to stick to pens/digital for now.

Here's another one I just scrounged up.

If you don't give AnAppleSnail a birthday card with this on it, i might punch you in the face. Because it is him, and also awesome.

Awesome stuff, guys! I love your stylization, Avius and Hydro!

I've tried oxidizing metal, but never got far.

Anyway, here's some of my rare non-photo work:

Thanks for the kind words, all!

And Avius, good lord man. You have some excellent mastery of hatching. I have to dig up some of my older stuff to show you and we can compare notes. I found etching to be therapeutic, but often stuck with pen and ink (either legit nibs or cheated with rapidographs/microns/what have you.)

Aurelie- snails and octopi are my favorite animals. It takes no convincing to get me to draw more. I think you need one in a drain. And nothing is more endearing than being threatened with a punch in the face. I like you all the more.

Heinrick- NICE. Is the gramophone piece actually created on top of damask wallpaper, or did you lay that pattern in too?

This is rapidly becoming my favorite board. For when I'm not busy making raptors happen and pwning n00bs.

More comments and more art coming soon.

Thanks, everybody! I love everything that's been posted.

Hydrotherapy- you bet. I always like discussing technique. Line drawing of all kinds usually gets the short end of the stick in art programs for some reason. I took a 300 level drawing class to try and polish up on my skills, and we spent 90% of the time working in charcoal, which I HATE.

I usually just use microns or the like, but last year I got a really nice set of nibs on a splurge and I've been loving them. I've always wanted to try engraving/etching, but I've never gotten around to acquiring the materials and setting aside the time.

I agree, this board is getting exciting! I've been wondering what secret genius you all have been hiding!

The phonograph is actually a woodcut print onto 90-year-old paper. The woman's portrait and sheet music are zerox transfers.

I just got a Wacom Bamboo tonight! I can't wait to try it out!

I had a Bamboo, and I've got an Intuos 4 now. I LOVE them. You get all the best features of both digital and traditional media, in my opinion.

This took like an hour with my intuos, and it would have probably taken 10 times longer with acrylics. Once you paint with layers and an undo button, there's no going back!

Well I feel outclassed. High school sketchbook, I found the original but this is a (poorly done) 4 year old scan:

But I miss drawing. So there's hope for me, right?

I suppose, but there's plenty of photography boards on this site already so I'd like to keep it mostly fine art/sculpture etc.
