Coast 7736TS LED Handheld < on 3/16/2010 10:47 AM > | Reply with Quote
Just picked up a new handheld light.
The light is a Coast 7736TS. 5" long, 98lm, 136hr run time, 3 AAA's, 715ft distance. 24kt gold contacts, o-ring sealed, prism reflector Single Cree LED.
$51
This thing is HELLA BRIGHT. Just picked it up as my new cave/mine light. I have plenty of stuff for immediate-area flood, but I've been needing something that can THROW a light down a shaft/drift/cavern. Been very happy so far in my testing of this light. Also got a belt holster for it.
Also, incidentally, bought Fenix's headband mounting system (no, not a headlamp). It comes with accessories to side-clamp on either two handheld lights (one on each side), or a single light on one side, and a o-ring sealed double spare battery compartment on the other side.
Hoping to get another good handheld light, so I'll have two to attatch to the Fenix headband, and then my double'd up headlamps, all attatched to my helmet.
That'll provide 2 bright throw-beams, plus a headlamp forward for close in flood, and a headlamp lighting the ground in front of my feet. I'll take pics when I've got my helmet all set up.
Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

I was going to mention that headband in the headlamp thread! It really is pretty special. And, nothing says cool like walking around town with a light on each side of your head.

Yeah I only wear my headlamps in public when I'm bicycling at night. I'm pretty sure I'd keep that for explory-only use.
My mum already complains about me wearing a headlamp around the house. She says its like a cyclops light she sees floating around the house early in the morning.
