Modified Cadillac CTS-V.

1/4 mile track run pulled 0.99g and tripped the Onstar crash sensor. Best part of the video if you ask me.

http://www.autoblo...v700-quick-spin%2F

Can be yours for about 90K.

90k isn't that far out of reach for the serious car guy.

But yeah, I am sure otaku and MYSELF could make more with that money.

I'm sure a lot of people could...I just thought it was an interesting use of a Cadillac. That and the fact that they didn't think to take the sensors out, but I guess they didn't realize that those can be tripped by G forces and not necessarily vehicle damage.

they, being Hennessy, is quite well-known in the online community for being a ripoff artist; what isnt so well-known is how he manages to keep getting media endorsements for his half-baked "packages" many of which are still in pieces on his shop floor after customers have ponied serious cash for the conversions, largely due to having read giddy articles like these...

Anything I've ever read about or seen Hennessey built is pure SEX!
Steponme, you'll probably think i'm just digging at this because it's you, but that's not the case.

I was reading some Viper forums and some Lambo forums where Hennessey received nothing but praise for their work. I'm usually of the same opinion.... companies that don't perform...don't last! PERIOD. There is too much access to information online etc.... that if a company was a serious hack, especially dealing with cars well into 6 figures bone stock, nobody would bring rides to them.

Guys with these types of wheels don't just flip open the Yellow Pages looking for a customizer LOL they do their homework.
Check out the pics. How do you get a shop like that and millions of dollars worth of cars on the shop floor at any given time by sucking....and do it for 20 years?

Well some of them do, but just because you make mad cash doesnt necessarily make you more responsible with it... id be willing to bet theres plenty of cars in his shop that were put there by his own advertising and media contacts.

What I have heard about the shop is ridiculously long turnaround times and big markup on what look like pretty simple upgrades; Im sure hennessey has plenty of satisfied customers, but theres plenty more who arent...

given the example of the V700 posted here, i'm wondering where the over 10K in upgrades is and why the suspension hasnt been tuned at all to match the tires/wheels and the horsepower increase... great for straight-line performance but who buys a cadillac to go to the dragstrip with?

"They increased the cold air intake diameter to four inches and attached a smaller blower pulley and a larger crank pulley, which ups the boost from the factory's 10 to 13.5 psi. The front-mounted heat exchanger has been swapped out, upping the intercooler's capacity by one gallon. Then they ported and polished the heads, upgraded the valves, valve springs and injectors. There's a new cam, too, as well as 1 7/8-inch stainless exhaust headers feeding into high-flow catalytic converters then into larger three-inch pipes. Finally, they remapped the ECU. The results are... total lunacy"

$10K does not seem high for that type of work to me! I would guess...and it would be a guess that some of these upgrades are not...walk to the shelf, grab and bolt on. probably some of the parts are custom fabricated. Also consider if you read further into the details that this 4 door sedan now runs number close to a Gallardo LP640 and not far from a GT-R - for 10K in upgrades.

It weighs too much (4300LBS?) it probably handles like a boat, even with the speed it can't outmaneuver shite.

From what I can tell with a low speed rear end collision with a stock CTS the bumper is made out of plastic (he hit me -- no damage to me) that car will probably disintegrate at those crazy speeds.

Interesting, I'd never heard of the supercharged version of the car before this thread.

Top Gear came to America a year or so ago to race at Bonneville. James May had the CTS-V, Clarkson had the ZR1 Corvette and Hammond had the SRT8 Challenger... May hated the Caddy until he got into some twisty roads in Nevada... he fell in love with it.

The CTS-V is a great sports car, and Hennessey makes it better. It doesnt matter what a bunch of magazine racers say. Ive been inside it on the track and also watched several CTS-V's over the last couple of years. Those who call it a boat and think they can do better for the money, i think not. Thats laughable.
