	In order for me to continue driving company vehicles, or in order for me to rent vehicles with company funds while traveling (both of which I've been doing for years) I have been order along with everybody else to take a four hour long online defensive driving course that I must pay for myself, on my own time, (they say I'll be reimbursed when/if I complete it). This policy is in immediate effect as of today. I guess a few people took the course as sort of a pilot program, and they will be the only ones who will be allowed to drive company vehicles for now. I guess the rest of our cars and trucks will just sit until more people pass the course. I really don't know how they plan on running operations with a parked fleet, but oh well. (I'm also sure this policy doesn't apply to the senior execs and their company cars either.) My question is this, I at one point in my life used to train people how to drive full size motor coaches and school buses, I've never a moving violation ever. So should I be insulted that I've been ordered to do this, or does a good driver accept the fact that you can never be so good that a little extra training wouldn't hurt and may even help? I'd say to go with it - corporate policy likely won't take no for an answer. It's impressive to have no violations, but in theory the course should be a snap. Just hound for the reimbursement, let us know if you need a way to make a receipt for the course.

	I just learned that we're not allowed to self recover CF vehicles. That includes rocking. So if I get stuck, even if I can rock it out I must wait a possible 3 hours for Recovery to come get me.

	I just finished a 3 hour online defensive driving course. It was a drag, but some people really, really, really.........REALLY need it badly.....

	I have done SMITH system training many times. Many, many, times. Its redundant, but nothing to worry about. And I have to do it in a tractor trailer. Most get to use a Ford Explorer.

	No need to be insulted, it's simply a company doing their due diligence to ensure they are safe, compliant etc... it may even be something driven or recommended by the company insuring their vehicles?!!? If it's ANY type of training, and you're going to be reimbursed for it... TAKE IT, THANKFULLY. increasing or maintaining skills on someone else's dime.... umm YES PLEASE

	There's some weird survey in my company that is done to determine if you should go to driver training; I took it and did not need it of course.

What good is theory if it's never put into practice? Even theory + natural talent + some ability are nothing compared to actual practice.

I wanna take one of those escape and evade hostage extreme driving getaway courses they make the secret service and the like do ... now THAT could be useful.

Anyways I see no harm, and think it's a good idea that they probably won't take all the way.

So go ahead take it, especially if it's free or on company time and then you can claim that on your auto insurance in the future and get discounts.

Edidiot: I didn't read carefully enough, yeah online courses are a waste of time, they should offer better, but it's required of you so guess you have no choice.

I'm not a driver. I access to company vehicles, and rent them with a company card when they pay me to travel.
