I was hoping this would get posted on this board, as I have a few questions for the lighting crowd.

As mentioned in the original thread, I'd like to invest in one of these as a 'floodlight' of sorts, for night photography.

This is an example, illuminated by a nearby factory's outdoor light. I'd like to simulate the effect.

Straight out of the box, I imagine this light would be too focused and intense for such an application. However, would a diffuser or similar tool simulate a better floodlight effect?

Your better off getting a cheaper light instead of diffusing this one. I kept thinking about this light, and I don't like the run time and heat issue. If you shoot digital you can get rid of the color cast using anything (led's or halogens) just shoot raw and make it a long exposure.

I scuffed the crap out of some polycarbonate from a 2-liter bottle to diffuse a HID I have with a bigger reflector (probably more focused) and got nice floody light. If you want crazy-bright light in a small package, this is it.
