A dual-sport motorcycle would be far better on gas speed and maneuverability plus it has on road off road capabilities.

plus you can outfit a motorcycle with a rocket launcher.

I love the big monster wagons, love the quadravan.

But I think i'd have to pick the little Jeep camper, Roomy enough for two, good MPG, 4X4, light, nimble, easy to hide, Easy to find parts for, you could get to some very remote locations with it.

Yup that's the one.....

Looks like I'll need to stick with my little surf mobile. She's stocked with food, clothes, tools, a surfboard and wetsuits. Cost was nowhere near $218,000, and she goes almost anyplace........Bring on the end times......

Awesomeness. I met the Steel Wheels guy, he lives here, gave us a complete tour of his rig. The guy's a genius. It's a totally re-worked fire truck, I forget the brand. Pinzgauer PUCH is also amazing for serious off road travel. A Unimog is needed in this group.

For non offroad the GM FWD 454 fiberglass RV is a collectable classic.

The Volvo is the only vehicle on that list that has true ground clearance that the axles dont ruin. Ill take it over anything on that list.

I'll give up ground clearance all day for good axle articulation. A Florida mud buggy has awesome clearance, but would get stuck on a lot of simple trails around here.

As the world ends, I'm not gonna be to concerned with the hard core fourwheel drive action. Hell I'm seein' honda civics gettin' way back in the Mojave Preserve. I won't need Rubicon abilities hopefully.

I'll be more interested in dependability, fuel consumption, something not to large or heavy that it can't be towed out of trouble easily, something that wont cost me an arm and a leg to purchase and maintain while I use it for camping and surfing. At least until the world ends.

A friend of mine and I were discussing this the other day. It won't be anything like Mad Max, it'll be a collection of Tercels, Civics, Cavaliers and old diesel Volkswagens frankensteined to stay together.

What if your end times vehicle was a VW Baja bug?

Whenever you happened across a Bug, and if the motor was better than the one you had. With a chisel and tin snips you could have the motor ready to drop out in 30 minutes.

Try that with a Neon, or a Civic.

Yeah, I would rather have something with more protection from the elements and, possible zombies, than a horse.

cr400's Nissan and Six Pac camper > the 218K rig, (once you pocket the savings, and maybe even in real world situation of armageddon drama). The Nissan 2.4 is one of the strongest for it's size and very reliable engine. The V6 3.0 is good, but can have exhaust manifold bolt problems. The Quest and Villager did in early years.

If your patient, this is a really cool film. The Bounty Bear, hand cranked diesel...

I will not spoil :)

as long as it's my left one, it's all good. I can't see out of it anyway.

i think the operative is why drive through a gaggle of zombies when you can go around...
