Quick Warning

I know we are all careful around the tracks so this post is more of a reminder to watch your step on RR property.

My buddy (a member on here) was out taking pictures in a bush near the CP yard when he was approached by CPRP. I'm not sure what was said exactly, but the end result was he tripped a motion sensor which led to $125 trespassing fine.

Now, we all know none of the members on here would be causing trouble for the RR or put ourselves in any kind of danger but unfortunately, the RP doesn't know this. Just remember to keep your distance, stay out of yards unless you have permission, and remember the 3 L's of Operation Lifesaver: Look, Listen, Live.

If it's near the location you linked to, CP's Detroit River Tunnel is a stone's throw away. They're more anal around there about people being on railroad property, lest someone goes into the yard to slip into a boxcar that will take them to the other side of the boarder.

Chances are they won't bug you if you're on public property, but being in the bushes near a rail yard or major cross-boarder link is not the wisest idea going.

No signs, no proof of trespassing. Works for me when I get asked.

They must have seen him on camera, there is absolutely no way there are motion censors in the bushes or anywhere. I heard an interview with a railway employee regarding a lot of these myths, such as motion sensors, heat sensors ext. Any equipment the railway has is geared towards the trains not people. Of course cameras are a thing on there own and at boarder crossings they due use technology to scan cars for things such as people.
However I assure you who ever nailed him was pulling his leg. I would go back and check the area again to clear any notions of imaginary censors. I'm surprised to hear cautionary statements in regards to trespassing on this sight

I wasn't there (thankfully) so I don't know exactly what happened. The camera idea does make more sense now that I think about it.

The trespassing warning was more of a reminder about how active railway security can be, especially in/around their yards. If they see you, chances are they WILL come find you and give you a ticket. Not sure how it works south of the border but in Canada, the CP Rail Police are sworn police officers and have all the rights that RCMP officers do.
