has anyone seen that new gm canada commercial with the president walking through a gm plant saying things like "a lot of canadians felt that they shouldnt be lending to gm, and i respect that" and he starts bragging about quality and new up comming models. does anyone find they are a direct rip off of the lee iacocca ads from chrysler in the early 80s?

No need to reinvent the wheel. Iacocca did great things with ads like that as part of a big business turn around. If it worked once, it just might work again

No, it's just stupid shit... rattling steering columns in impala, shitty stabilizer links in EVERYTHING, bad control arm bushing.

The thing that pisses me off is that the mechanics get fucked on warranty times, where we're just fixing GM's shit they refuse to improve.

And no... the 5 other guys I work with agree.

If GM gets something right, they change it immediately. Look at the Cobalt. Gone next year!

I'll agree here, too. That's one of the main reasons I got out of it. The more training I got, the more warranty work I got. The guy across the aisle with very little training does brake jobs and tune-ups all day.

It was valuable experience in the long run, though.

Not trying to start something, but of GM, Ford and Chrysler, on average, of all their vehicles you've worked on over the last 15 to 20 years, are GM's really the worst?

I used to be pro import all the way. Japanese and German. Then realized that domestic parts are, (or used to be), about a 1/3 or less the cost of imports! Even if not quite as reliable, they still end up being less expensive to operate.

Maybe the playing field is more level now. For the record, I have 4 GM's, old stuff mostly, two are driven regularly. An 80 Camper Special Pickup that won't die, and the '95 Tahoe which is proving way more reliable and cheaper to run than the 3 Cherokees I've had, and liked a lot. (All bought used and high mileage).

I would love to buy an older Golf or Jetta as a runaround, VW was my favorite car company for decades. But it's actually cheaper if you don't drive a huge amount not to buy an econo car for running around. I still say GM V8's 4.3 and some of their other vehicles are reliable and good value. Agreed they made some shite. Like every other car company.

And the likely reason there are more bad GM stories going around, is because up until recently they made more vehicles than anyone else. If all cars were equal in reliability, GM would have more good and bad, by volume of vehicles alone. In my opinion, GM is average on reliability. Could be better, I think they will recover if they play their cards right.

oh good one, go after spelling because you have nothing else to use, its called being lazy and not caring, not anything to do with education.

Maybe thats what gm owners are, lazy and just dont care.

Looks like I hit the bullseye.

But, to be clear, I said nothing about spelling. A little education will help in your reading comprehension skills.
