So i'm stopped at a stop sign around 2:00 this afternoon. BOOM.... smoked from behind.
So I jump out to check out she who has graced my back bumper.....bleeding from the mouth and nose, she's already lit a smoke and sits in her car saying nothing. Doesn't get out to survey damage. Doesn't answer my question "do you want an ambulance" just sits. Long story short, cops arrive, both of whom are good friends of mine to file the reports. We peel the cars apart

Damage to Hummer - smashed rearview camera, scratches and paint in back bumper and on trailer hitch ball, bent license plate and smashes housing/light for license plate.

Damage to Grand Am - Crumpled hood, trailer hitch sized hole in front bumer, crumpled quarter panel passenger side, two smashed headlights and a fluid leak yet to be determined.

driver was charged
no injuries

Glad no one was hurt, but that other driver sounds like a Grade A idiot.

Ive now been told, the lady is....and i quote "not well"
and well known to police.... one of the towns "troubled ladies"

Might explain her odd behaviour.

I suspect that the cost to repair the Hummer will be more than the cost to completely replace the Grand Am.

If she was bleeding from the nose and mouth, it isn't exactly "no injuries". No serious injuries, maybe. Still, sounds like the Grand Am did was it was supposed to do.. absorb the impact in a crumple zone.

$1900 damage to the Hummer

- Replace rear bumper & bumper cap
- Replace left rear corner "cap" which is basically just a plastic body part
- Replace rear license plate holder
- Replace rear license plate light assembly
- Replace aftermarket rear view camera

Ok, so you could by 2 Cobalts.

So here's the icing on the cake...grande finale

My cop buddy comes to the house last night JUST to tell me the follow up story, and bring me the surveilance footage from the liquor store this happened in front of.

After I left, he was filling out the report for her. When all was done she decided to try and drive the car away. She puts it in reverse to turn around, backs into the police van, puts it in drive and starts to drive away. So the officer runs in front of her, stops her and says "hey stop, you just bumped into my van." She gives him the same blank stare, no answer just blank. So he tells her to get out of the car, he's going to drive her home. She hops out of the car, leaves it in drive....car starts to roll. Officer dives into the car and rams it in park to stop it.
She gets charged with Dangerous Driving for the whole fiasco. Turns out, she also has a court date for a DUI - so she'll now be facing both charges on that date. After further investigation of an earlier in the day hit and run on a parked car downtown, turns out she was responsible for that one as well.

I love it when people have a reputation for being horrible at something. It saves me a lot of explaining when they do something to me. Their history speaks for itself.
