Tall hood FTW. Makes dropping in a V8 sooo much easier.

my friend Will's dad had/has a 51 Willys CJ3A... there is very little of the original sheetmetal left, but it still has the WILLYS hood.
also, the original engine is gone and it has a Buick 3.8L V6 under the hood for some reason.

That's a very popular swap sam. And the 225 Buick V6 with the 50# flywheel.

What would something like this (in its condition as seen in the pics) go for if I were to try and buy it off of the guy? Would like lowest and highest prices.

Depends on a lot. Frame condition, rust, originality. If it runs drives and doesn't have tons of major issues $800-2500. Really depends on many factors. The CJ-3B is not the most desired of the flatfenders really.

not as desirable because of that god awful hood, and pointy fenders. The 50lb flywheel must be needed to add some low end grunt to the V6?

Why dont you try to find a M38 or M38a1? The price of one will be less considering its surplus history. And parts are easier to find in some cases than the civvy jeeps. A buddy of mine has a cj3 and it has been a nightmare to find parts for it.

I think it comes down to what you plan on doing with it. Full on resto, will cost you much much money and be only so so capable. If you want to build it into a weekend trail runner and all around enjoyable vehicle it will actually cost you a lot less.

Yeah, you'd really have to want to restore it, otherwise a newer Jeep would be the ticket for actually using. That bellcrank steering leaves alot to be desired, as well as the usual Jeep stuff, like the axles, suspension, tires, frame and body rot, engine, transmission, transfer case. All that stuff usually gets replaced with bigger stuff so you don't break it. Stock is ok for driving down the street. And why those odd-fire's ever were popular I will never know. The only advantage is that the cranks are stronger than even fire ones by design. But I do miss my dad's old Jeepster Commando. Saw one the same color in the UP, still in the same spot 5 years later. I should buy it.

I use to have a 69 Jeepster Commando with the 225 V6 and TH 400 trans. Should have never gotten rid of it. Was that wonderful mint green color. Its actually being used at a marina in Canada now, dude flew down here bought it, had it restored and its like his little show piece putting boats in and out of the water. He even put a little hitch on the front. Gawd I miss it

Take some good consideration into this one RG. It'd be a nice tinker toy play with and restore, but money is definitely an issue here. Parts will indeed be difficult to find (We don't sell any of the major hard parts for them lol) but Virgil knows a guy that supposedly knows all you need to know about this thing. Virgil himself is pretty knowledgeable, and he has experience with your favorite little M35 series of trucks. Not only does the guy up north know how to do things, he knows where to find the parts for a reasonable (Reasonable, not necessarily cheap ) price.

Well, looking into it some more, seems like the guy doesn't want to get rid of it now. So I guess it's back finding a nice M35 for me.

The light Green. Mine had dealer installed AC and the first time the top was ever removed was by me. Sigh.

Looking for free right now, as I'm broke and in between contract jobs. The jeep was free, but the guy seems to be stubborn, hence why I thought I could persuade him again. Meh...

If you find a free M35, I'll take it. As long as she can turn over, she's good to go! Frozen, and no thanks.
