43. JN Adams Sanatorium

Originally a sanatorium, this 1910s complex is technically a part of the city of Buffalo despite being 30 miles away and in a different county. The facility operated as an asylum by the New York State DDSO until the early 90s, and a decades-long legal battle has sputtered along since then as to who truly owns the place. Whoever does, it's surrounded by a pesky barbed-wire fence, but from what we've seen local kids can be trusted to open the place wide over any given summer. 38 buildings, including a main asylum and a power plant similar in size and design to that of Rochester Psychiatric.

If I can make this Day I would love to check out the Asylum!

Whether we can even go to that or most other places depends on if we get anyone coming up for this who can drive...

Public service message to just mind your wits when doing JN. Its been under heavy scrutiny lately by the state and with the flooding last summer ... increased money for security to the region - namely Perrysburg and Java (pronounced Jay-va) has increase patrols.

So ... just making you guys aware.

i was planning on making this an exteriors only location anyway due to the formidable fence, and/or trying to get permission to enter.

I've personally tried, bro. The state really has put a clamp on the access. Even my buds that are about to do the preservation website (professional web dudes) were denied access.

To me it doesn't matter what you do. I just am saying whatever your means are, just awareness would be a good thing.

I would have nothing to lose as long as I kept everyone outside the fences, right? if some people were planning on going in I would just walk back into the village and let them do their own thing but I personally dont believe in going over/through fences for access anyway regardless of security changes

The more I think about this the more it seems like you just didn't want us messing with your asylum. Java is 29 miles away from Perrysburg, I doubt any enforcement there would even reach the JN Adam property.
