I don't really like it. To me, it looks like a Nissan Murano.

Yeah, it needs some sharp edges, more aggressive accents, styling cues.

It does look Murano, it actually looks like some sort of suv hybrid/minivan now.

I dont see anything Murano in that. What are you guys looking at? It looks more like a Buick POS than anything. Just more American shitty styling. Time to get rid of the panel of conservative business men who design these pieces of crap.

Looks like a Caravan.

I had a new Liberty for my rental while I was in Calgary, and all I can say is Chrysler has really ruined the Jeep name.

*On second glance, it looks like a GMC Acadia/Chevy Traverse. Which are ugly and terrible.

What Jeep doesn't get is Jeep guys don't care what it looks like. We really don't. Its like the Commander. They didn't get why since it looks like a large Cherokee Jeepers didn't flock to it. It doesn't PERFORM like a Cherokee.

Make it as ugly as you want. I don't care. But make it capable. And capable dependent on its hardware, not software.

With that whopping 3" of ground clearance, I'm gonna say it's not capable. That thing would bottom out in my local drive-thru.

The Liberty was the result of the DahmlerChrysler CEO freaking out over the Car & Driver review of the Toyota RAV4, which described it as "cute". Dieter thought that was going to be the direction of SUVs so he asked the XJ replacement project to go in that direction which caused a slight revolt by engineering. Their replacements for the project came from Ford, who happened to work on the Escape. Get the picture?

So do I...greatest engine ever...those AMC guys sure knew what they were doing.

The Grand Cherokee was always kind of the "luxury" 4x4 of the Jeep brand so I expect to have polish over the other models.

I've been following the specs of its developmet on Allpar and I think while the body is a bit more GM-ish, its performance is more Jeep like.

And actually...I like the Commander...but I wish they would get rid of the Liberty, but sales have been decent on them.

sorry, the title of 'greatest engine ever' does not belong to an AMC design...

Mopar Slant 6, Chevy Small-block V8, Ford 2.3L I4, Volkswagen Bug, and Subaru Boxer already have a tie going for that honor.

the 258 AMC was just a tough I6.

You pretty much summed it up there, Sam.

Don't laugh, but can the Chrysler 2.2 get an honorable mention?

actually, i had planned on adding that to the list, but it was late and i was running out of coherent things to reply with.
the 2.2L/2.5L Chrysler most certainly should've been on that list.

i have to agree with the engines mentioned above. you guys nailed it. but in my opinion (based solely on my experience) i love Toyota's 22RE....in the 80's trucks. Im not sure what its like now, but back then, awsome, mine was bullet proof and never had a single issue even after i possed 400,000km while water crossing it
too back Toyota sucks now

those are diesels... they don't count when you're talking about passenger cars. Diesels are EXPECTED to go the distance. Back in the day, most engines were designed to go 50k if you were lucky. Most people traded in their cars before then and most didn't drive all that far to work. Today, if an engine won't turn 200,000 trouble-free miles, its a boat anchor.

moving right along, the 22R was a tank of an engine. What could you do to hurt it?
