500 Lumen light for only $13?

Yep, just ordered it off of Ebay a few days ago since my last light, a more expensive one to boot stopped working. Got my 200 lumen headlamp from these guys awhile back and it survived a six foot drop from a window. So, might as well check it out. I'll post a review up once I get this bad boy in the mail.

I don't want to piss on your parade but I think it is supposed to be 200 Lumen. If it is a 3 watt Cree as stated, most I see advertised as 160-220 Lumen. Just don't expect anything close to 500 lumen.

Yeah, the 500 lumen bit will be entirely untrue.

That said, though, it'll still be plenty bright, as all these things are, and by the looks of it, it'll throw tremendously well when zoomed right in (it'll have a square beam!).

I have a soft spot for those cheap zoomers - on wide mode, they tend to be nice and smooth, too, which is handy for light painting.

Yeah, I'm really just getting it for a cheap light, not expecting too much out of it. My headlamp has the same zoom feature and I just love it! I call the little square, "Toast" light.

It says "burning life: 15 hours." Maybe they're overdriving the emitter enough to get 500 lumens out of it, but only 15 hours before the emitter burns out LOL.

Direct drive. It will get dimmer throughout the battery life. As an added bonus: If you get an LED with a lower-than-normal forward voltage, the LED will die almost immediately.

Edit: If they built it to be as-bright-as-possible, it's just running the battery through the LED with no resistor. Poof!

So, I got the light today! Sadly it uses a WAY different battery than what I can find at any old store. Guess that's why it was so cheap. It uses a Li-ion 18650 3.7v. Called up Radio Shack where I had to repeat myself over and over again that, yes the battery is for a flashlight. LOL

As for my headlamp, guess it was actually "300" lumens since I found the exact same one but from a different buyer.

Well, the good thing is that 18650s are great, but you obviously need to find some, plus a charger. Dealextreme has some cheap options (you want 'protected' batteries)

"7.Batteries:Li-ion 18650 3.7V"

It's in the description - we thought you knew what it meant or we'd have explained it.

That's cool. When I got the flashlight there was a slot for the battery, but it was empty. I'll just have to wait a few days more to test it out.

LBM has one from deal extreme which is ridiculous. It focuses from wide area to a crazy beam. At night out along the street I've seen it easily light up a house like 3-4 houses down just as easilly as the B&W 2M CP HandCannon. It's one thing if it was a flashlight or a spotlight, but this was a 3AAA head lamp! no direct link though...

I don't think that it. The focusing ring thing containing the lenses and stuff was black metal. From the base it stuck out about 1 inch. In diameter it was about somewhere between the size of a US Nickle and Quarter coin.

I think it looked most similar to this: http://www.dealext...tails.dx/sku.26250 (and I'm not sure if that's it or not)

Creepers be creeping....! A little birdie told me I was mentioned

Trent, you're right it is that one. I love that one, there are slight problems with it not always working but when it does, it is well worth its money! (it works more often than not, I just got it wet too many times)
