Hey guys, anybody here own any arcade cabs? what have you got...

post some pics of what you have if you got em.

I personally would like to grab myself a neo geo MVS in the near future if I can find one for a good price.. I dont mind if it is a single slot... preferably a 4 slot and possibly I would consider a 6 slot too but that is pushing it I think.

My girlfriend would like a galaga machine, but I dont know if I would grab one unless it was dirt cheap.

I've had some in the past.. but barely see any now it seems.. have you tried Craigslist or looked around at local owned comic/game stores?

Or have you considered building one and running an arcade emulator such as MAME on it? ..downside to this is it will more than likely end up costing more to build one than to buy one, but it is a lot of fun to do!

yeah the 6 player big cab is awesome... I always loved that game and they never ported it to any console. Predator vs aliens by capcom was also amazing and they never ported that either... in fact capcom cant and wont be porting it to any virtual console type things either.

Mames are cool... I was thinking of going that route, but my issue is I am going through renovations at the moment so I cant fit one in my house because of all the building material I have down here... haha I have like 30-40 4x8s of plywood, and like 50 sheets of gyprock.

I check craigslist... man I saw a neo geo MVS in amazing condition (one of the cleanest I've seen in years) for only 400.. it's also a 4 slot! Unfortunately space.. as I mentioned. I would buy a 101 yellow cart for it most likely. Fuckin, metal slug, KOF, FF, puzzle bobble, you name it... samurai showdown, the works.

Really wish this thread would've appeared a year ago.

My dad owned an amusement buisness and had hundreds of arcane cabinets, both functional and non-functional. He has since retired and sold his buisness.

If you're lucky you could end up with enough left over supply's from the renovations to build one! haha well, the cabinet at least. ..also a good thing about building your own you can choose to make it small, thin, large, however you like that might fit for your house. ..but thats where it gets a bit expensive getting all the buttons, paint, decor/marquee, wires, sound, screen, etc.

That doesn't sound like a very bad price at all. Over here prices are generally absurd.. about the only reasonable one I recall seeing was a Dungeon's & Dragons one for 300$ ish.

well depending on the machine, they are usually 800 bucks and up. okay, you can maybe get a single slot neo geo mvs for like 400 if it's beaten up... but that deal for the 4 slot was actually the best deal I have seen on the upper east coast (from long island to here) haha...

(what I mean by single slot and 4 slot is the neo geo MVS is like a console with cartridges and it can have several plugged in at once because it has a game select menu)

You can consolise arcade boards which takes up the least amount of space but I like the originals...

Oh, and 2 weeks ago a person was selling a very nice condition street fighter 2 CE arcade machine all original for like $250... or was it $150? I forget. I didn't have a way to move it... put it this way, a week later it was on craigslist for 800 bucks.

agreed, many people have been asking capcom to re release of that game but apparently they no longer own the rights to the movie license and they dont even own the rights to the game anymore even though they made it... from what I hear nobody owns the rights to that game anymore.

yeah there are several but I have not tried them personally. I believe mame can get it done... but check google for arcade emulators and you will for sure find one within 5 minutes. I know for sure they exist and are fairly common.

those games are from before pre naomi so they should be easy to run on any computer.

The other day after Chris kicker and I got done exploring we went a place here in town that fixes and sells pinball machines and arcade machines. They have an original donkey kong jr that is fully functional. It's pretty awesome.

thats neat... today I wound up at a bowling alley and discovered there was a coin jam in their beat up crazy taxi machine... so I wound up hitting the button a few times and money came out. they were charging a buck a game and the money that came out payed for roughly a half an hour worth of playing that.

then I noticed the pinball machine was screwed up and was letting me play for free... that occupied like 20 minutes.

you know what I always found funny about williams? the logo is an upside down motorola logo hahaha.

I would be afraid of picking up a used pinball machine... they take a good bit of maintenance and parts. You really gotta know your stuff for that haha...
