transmission crossmember crack

So today I did an oil change and fuel filter change on my car. While I had it up on a lift, I noticed that my tranny cross member had some cracks on it. I thought it was odd and I'm kinda worried about it now. Both sides have cracks, which seems even more odd to me.

I would really appreciate the input from you people on here about this. The car is a 2007 A4 2.0T with currently 95 000 km.

WTF would cause this?

Looks to be the lowest part of the car, and probably took an impact one time or another...or a couple. Its just cast aluminum, so its pretty brittle. I would just change it if i were you. It should take about 20 minutes if you support the trans with a jack.

EDIT: has anyone ever used that mount to lift the car?

If you dont wanna replace them yet, you should take them off and grind the cracks so they are smooth. Dont give it anywhere to start cracking again.

It looks like someone lifted the car with a jack from those mounts, if you ask me.
