So I just got a brand new 640gb hard drive to replace the 160gb drive in my laptop

My current drive has been making shreiking noises and is about three years old.

The laptop currently runs Vista but with the new drive I plan to do a fresh install.

Does anyone know how easy XP is to pirate these days? Or maybe one of you have a spare CD key laying around? Basically, Vista sucks donkey dong, so its time to go back to XP. Maybe im making myself look stupid but I figure it can't hurt to ask.

All this extra room will also let me install a nice dual boot!

Windows 7 isn't bad, really. If you're still a student, a legit copy is cheap. I've always been sketchy about using a pirated .iso with whatever-the-hell.exe added in.

Not too hard. Pirate bay- use whatever's got the most seeders and you're usually fine. My school gives me xp for free, though, so I haven't tried in about a year, so your milage may vary.

Also, I agree that windows 7 ain't bad. Most of my experience with it has been from one side of Visual Studios as opposed to what most people use it for, but it hasn't explicitly gotten in my way nearly as much as XP + Vista.

Be careful, not safe.

I'm running Windows 7 x64 on both my laptop & desktop.
I like it better than XP and Vista. But, Windows 2000 Pro still is my favorite.

The best choice is use Windows 7 (Pro or Ultimate) + install Windows XP Mode for old program compatibility : )

Blech. No Windows 7... I don't have the money.

Since all of you seem to like 7 so much, do any of you have spare XP keys laying around? Im looking for a handout here.

It seems that even the highly seeded iso's out there contain malware... shittiness. I may have to get an original CD, but still need the key.

If you don't care about pirating XP why not just pirate 7? You can download the ISO right from MS and then verify the MD5 sum to make sure it's clean.

You'll have to find a crack or do a SLIC mod if you want to pirate it. There are good clean ways out there, but that's all I'm going to say here.
