E-less pointed this out to me when I was in the GTA to see her last. In Whitby, there's a roller-skating rink called "Rollerama" that as I understand still has that retro 1970s design and look in it.

it was actually originally called "Wheelies" and had a red coloured decor inside.. anyway, it closed down within the last 6 years or more and the sign was changed to "rollerama".. its on Burns Street just east of Garden

House on Rossland near the site "twisted metal on Rossland". Just found out about it after someone set the barn on fire. I thought that people were living in the house before that.

Actually it used to have a big WHEELIES sign, which said Rollerena beside it, describing what it was. I remember playing an old school arcade racer in there every time I went. it was a bitch to work the gas and brake in rollerskates

You can add the Kinsale House to the list now too.

Note about the Kinsale house...the owner lives behind the lot (if you walk behind the house there's a bridge to his business lot). Story on the house is that the guy built it for his wife but they got divorced. He kept it for his daughter but she got divorced so now it's in limbo.

The guy still cuts the lawn now and again and the neighbours watch the property too. Technically, I guess, it's not abandoned.

There are a bunch of locations in north Pickering alone.

There's a house on Concession 7/Brock Road. Check out the basement---creepy. (http://www.mapques...gKCQft9bNCtVDZ1CKt)

There's a nice (though mostly empty) house on Taunton and Thornton (east of Thickson). (http://www.mapques...gKCQft9bNCtVDZ1CKt)

The town of Brougham seems to have a number of empty houses but it's a small community so tread carefully. (http://www.mapques...gKCQft9bNCtVDZ1CKt)

Further west on Highway 7 (just before 9th line) there's a new subdivision going up with about 3 boarded up places (maybe more). (http://www.mapques...gKCQft9bNCtVDZ1CKt)

On Brock north of Rossland there are about three more boarded up places. (http://www.mapques...gKCQft9bNCtVDZ1CKt)

Also on Brock, a little ways up just past the CP line there's an old factory. You can see it on the west side...to get to it you need to take Taunton west and then the little road to the south through this wierd little neighbourhood. (http://www.mapques...gKCQft9bNCtVDZ1CKt)

There are also a bunch of old foundations scattered about the place...not much to see unless you dig stone walls. There's also this strange house on Audley just south of 7 that I think someone may be using as storage but it's locked up (
http://www.mapques...gKCQft9bNCtVDZ1CKt)

The old house/barn that burned down was also on Taunton...I was on my way to see it when I saw the black smoke in the sky...worst timing ever! Anyways...might be something left. (http://www.mapques...gKCQft9bNCtVDZ1CKt)

Finally, Audley just north of Rossland has an old wreck on the east side (sometimes not easy to spot) (http://www.mapques...gKCQft9bNCtVDZ1CKt)

There was also a wierd barn-like thing south of Rossland to the west but it may have been knocked down for the new subdivision (http://www.mapques...gKCQft9bNCtVDZ1CKt)

There's the old inn on Kingston road right across from Picov Downs (west of Lakeridge, east of Salem) - I managed to get into the second floor but the first floor is still boarded up for whoever wants to unscrew the boards. While you're at it...go behind the house into the field to see another foundation and grain silo. Walk a little east through the fields and there's another crumbled house in the bushes right next to the road (also with a crumbling silo) (http://www.mapques...gKCQft9bNCtVDZ1CKt)

Finally, there are farm remains on Highway 7 on the dip across from Suny's gas station (on the south side). It's west of Westney and east of Brock (closer to Westney). You have to walk to the back of the field to see it, though there's another crumbler right next to the road (http://www.mapques...gKCQft9bNCtVDZ1CKt)

I managed to get some good snaps of all these places except the last one. My camera *sob* hasgone missing.

Happy hunting!

i wanna get into the old century house in ajax thats infront of the Theaters just cuz its sitting there doing nothing... prolly nothing in it anyways but still...

Keep Searching
Lunis

If it's the one with the historical plaque at the front...go in through the driveway and up the steps to your left. I pried the bolt a bit so you should just be able to slide it out. The first floor remains unexplored...there's no way down there from the second floor. You'll have to remove a window board, but it's a bit exposed on every side (especially now in the winter). Also, I think they're starting a development there so make haste!

Dang...I just realized none of the MapQuest links work (all point to Pickering). Well, hopefully my directions will be enough. If not, let me know and I'll find another way to post the map(s).

Hey JB, me and Fedge pretty much exhausted all those locations. It was great while it lasted. most of those locations are in the database. most are also worth going up to take a look at.

Hmmm...well I passed two more today. One's at Highway 7 just west of Durham-York line on the north side. It's just foundation but looks interesting. There are also a couple of houses on 7th Concession east of North Road. I couldn't tell you exactly how far because I was driving slow (and looking everywhich way) but it's definitely west of Brock.

I also visited one a ways back on Taunton west of brock (over the bridge). It looks like it's been visited a bit but it stood out in my mind because it was packed with stuff. When I visited the only entrance was through the basement and it was flooded to about 2 feet of water. There were a few kennels in the yard and some stationery that suggested the owner was a German Shepherd breeder.

I don't have access to the db yet so please forgive me if I'm repeating known locations (unless someone wants to recommend me for full membership ;) )

Well, I'm glad you got inside and if you have any pics I'd love to see them. I've driven by this place numerous times but was not in a UE-ready mode to check it out.

As IanK1968 said, we've generally "done" Durham from Pickering to Uxbridge to Clarington. We've still got a few places to investigate and it'd be nice to have you along with us.

Nominated you for FM, by the way...

Might be a different place - lopix and a bunch of us went into the "backyard" and it was simply a field with long greenhouse buildings to the west side. They along with the house itself were in bad shape.

Well, I am very familiar with Kinsale (it's only about 50 metres long end to end) and can honestly say I can't imagine where that would be...though I would like to find out
