Esurance?

after getting the stiff weenie one too many times from State Farm, I have decided to shop for new insurance.
One of my friends has been with Esurance for almost 5 years and had nothing but good things to say about their prices, policies, customer service and billing practices... so, i bit and called them last night after doing an online quote.
I plan on changing companies next friday, but want to consult my UER peers for any stories or experiences with this company. After researching them online, everything looks ok. They seem to be legit, so...

Anyone?

I dunno how it works down in the USA but I called a private broker and he was able to match my policy for about 500 dollars less per year.

it seems that companies like esurance are very common out there. not so much here in Canada.

The only issue i would have personally with using an online style company (if thats what it is) would be lack of personal touch. I personally like knowing I have a specific person / office I call when I need to speak with some one. Its good to have a good relationship with that person (broker) it tends to pay off as if theres ever a dispute with the Insurance company theres someone there who will fight for you.

It all depends on your style I guess, but i dont know anyone with e-surance as I dont think we even have it up here.

Just be sure to think about that personal factor i mentioned above.

I've heard good things about esurance Sam; however, my State Farm agent usually will match up their rates so I have never switched and have never had an issue with State Farm.

not the date, im in agreement with nismo, up here if you go to the offices of liberty mutual, wawanesa or belair directly you get screwed. the best thing up here is deal with a broker. they find you the best price, none of my three cars is insured with the same company and every year im dealing with a new company. When i have a claim to make i never call the company i call the broker. service is great

Sam, NO!

Call the agent I use in Ticonderoga, seriously. I bet they can help you.

Called "The Agency" in Ti, call them asap.

My wife can help with auto insurance through the company she sells life insurance through. They compare the rates of several companies and give you the cheapest. We bought our auto insurance this way and saved about $80 per 6 months. Progressive underwrites the policy, so we have Progressive insurance at a discount, essentially. PM me if interested, you have to have her rep number to get a quote.

State Farm:

In the 1990s My grandmother was hit by a deer (as in it ran into the back of her car as she was driving -- the speed limit) She called to make a claim. They called it an "act of god" and even though they wouldn't cover this "act of god" ... dropped her because she had been in an accident.

Geico:

two incidents
outta state speeding ticket + in state accident/too fast fr road conditions violation.

insurance went up $32/6 months after ticket was 518 now it costs 550/month for full coverage (loan) on 05 legacy without $80 good grades discount applicable next term.
--
my mom (clean record for 20 years) just bought a 2010 forester, she's paying under 200/6 months for full coverage on a $14,000 loan.

the geico rates didnt seem to go up too bad for what happened.
but you cant quote what an insurance company did in the 90s, all policies have changed alot since then as well as the insurance act / regulations. Act of god isnt even used any more. Its on the policy but wont ever be used because it can be said that every incident is an act of god if you argue it in courts

550 a month?

Thats more than I pay in rent... thats more than the Volvo I just bought.

I wouldn't drive if I had to pay $550 a month.

Then you're not getting the right person to do the quote. My parents pay 110 a month for two cars with collision and that's through The Travelers.

WHOOPS.

550/6 MONTHS. My bad.

I would have bought a motorcyle and ran it plateless/insuranceless if that was the case.
