I know exactly what you mean by these, the little abandoned houses up on Church St. I live right near them...I've been in them, but I barely know a thing about them...I've been dying for any info possible. May I ask why you call them Jewish Cottages? also you listed that as a site in teh 'shwa (lol) as well...are they connected? what do you know about the houses? I've been trying to research them.

All i know about the jewish cottages is that years ago jewish people that moved to Toronto, would use them as cottages where they would hold conventions, and then when i was walking through the building i happened to see a patch laying on the ground that had Camp ???(idon't know) on it. So i think it turned into a camp after they stopped using it!

I found out though my buddies mother! I'll try and talk to her again and collect more info on the cottages. I'll make sure i post it, if i find out anything new about it!

ok, awesome! thanks a lot. Yeah, I've been VERY curious about those cottages ever since I first discovered them.
How does your bud's mom know about them?

My buddies mom use to visit the people that owned that house on the cottage property in ajax! I haven't seen him in awhile cause i'm working but once i talk to him i'll try and get as much info as i can!

wow, so, they must have been occupied fairly recently then? hmm...I'm guessing the latest was around 1995 or so, from what I've gathered...

These cottages are owned by the farmer who lives beside the lots.. He isn't friendly, due to the constant problems he has with people breaking and entering into his houses.

Interesting...well lucky for me I've never had a run in with him...but I've heard things...can't say that I really blame the man though...
it's funny because when I first discovered the houses (by complete accident) I was so curious about them that I almost sent a letter to the people who own the property...I actually wrote one but could not bring myself to deliver it...I was afraid to be prosecuted even though I didn't even know then that it was illegal to tresspass there...talk about gut instinct...

I went to the cabins recently and I enjoyed it muchly. Only two of the many many cabins were open and I found it quite amazing that there are still so many old articles of clothing, dishes, etc. that seem to date back to the 60's!

Ha, its like a smaller verison of a Borshet Belt Resort!

I drove there one night but a motion light came on so I decided not to investigate further.

I have heard of no such thing... but if there are, let me know exactly where and I'll check them out sometime...
