Jawohl. Das is gute auto.

Were you doing like 7km an hour for the last km to avoid going past the 0 on the tenths? Oh wait, digital more precise...

There's no decimal point in the actual mileage... but I was going slow. The evening was planned. I am a loser.

I think it makes you less of a loser if you had a female companion to accompany you on the drive, and said female companion was a willing participant...

yeah, and?
with my old pushrod 2.2L in my Cavalier, the only thing I changed were plugs, wires and a waterpump (because 2.2L's don't like to be wound to 7,000+ RPM's). I drove the car to 217,000 miles. The girl that bought the car after me, drove it to 307,000 miles before she totaled it under a Dodge Ram Dually... all she put in it was a clutch kit.

I wanted to get pics of it, but the guy wouldn't hang around long enough for me to get my camera... my 98 Lumina i sold a couple of years ago just flipped 300,000 miles... on the same engine parts.

How many sets of wheel bearings and muffler straps?

(And great... but they both had less mileage!)

the Cavalier went through 1 set of wheel bearings while I had it and no muffler straps. In fact, I cut the muffler off and welded a bracket from the rear subframe channel to the pipe with a clamp to hold the pipe in place.

the Lumina, as far as I know, had nothing done to it other than a transmission service, the multifunction stalk replaced and your normal brakes and rotors normal maintenance.

the Monte Carlo? Well, that was an epic unto itself...

Evan Boberg (former AMC/Chrysler Engineer) who helped with Jeep R&D said the AMC 242 was designed to last 150,000-170,000 without a major fuckup in mind.

I think that holds true; my 1994 XJ has 179,652 miles on it and still going strong. And yes, its mechanically the same. Only thing other than the usual wear and tear items that has been replaced is the radiator and some sensors.

Even with our SAR group, our Jeep team has mostly CJs, YJs, XJs, and ZJs with over 200,000 on them!

Not a loser at all, maybe OCD with hoarding tendencies though As I have too.

Side note: I sold some '53/'55 Beetle doors to a guy whose obsessed with finding a split window. I won't sell him mine, and I doubt you would sell yours...

Yeah I definitely hoard things.

Ugh, I know a guy with a '52 split which he wants to sell, then doesn't, then does... it's sitting in the grass in his backyard, a tree fell on it last winter, etc.

I may just take it if he doesn't smarten up.
