So. I had an idea today, and I wanted to see what you guys thought

The shop I send my film to will develop my film for very cheap BUT their price for prints or picture CD's is pretty outrageous. However, there is a local shop that will scan negatives and make prints or pic CDs for next to nothing, but doesn't develop

Do you think it's a bad idea to have two shops working on one roll of film? I don't know if I'll get better results if I just let the guy who developed it make prints

Also. The shipping is wayyy cheaper if it's just negatives

It seems to me doing the two shops is ok and makes sense, but maybe you know something I don't

I see no reason why it could be a problem as long as it's handled with care.

I do all the scanning myself. For the cost of my V500, I had it back in savings in cost in a month.

This. You can get one for under $100. After you scan a dozen or two rolls you've not only made that money back, but you have way better scans than the 4MP jpegs you are getting on a CD from your local one hour photo.

There is no advantage in quality in having your film processor create your prints and/or scans for you.

I'm also in the camp of process only then scan - 'cept I use a Coolscan 8000.
