Replacement Headlamps

So, I've deceided it is time to replace the headlamps on my 2001 GrandAm. They are really, really faded. I've attempted to buff out the haze twice using two different headlight fix-it kits, but neither one worked very well (in fact, the last one made things worse).

I would like to upgrade while I'm at it, to LED or xenon lights. Any opinions on aftermarket LED / xenon kits? How do they work with DRL's?

Stick to OEM. Order a new set or do a projector (i.e: TSX) retrofit if you're handy enough.

Don't put those gay angel eyes or LED lights on your car. Just my opinion. Halo = BMW. LED = Audi. Period. I find it looks ugly and rice on anything else, just like m3 mirrors on a civic. It's way overplayed too. However, xenons, properly done in the proper projector, are worth it. Most cheap halo projectors however are NOT made to handle HID's despite being a projector, they have very poor cut offs and hot spots.

I also really hope you weren't planning on dropping HID's in reflectors.

As for the DRL, with VW's it's a vagcom thing, but you probably can get around that with a relay on your car.

grand ams were a dime a dozen and the headlights are cheap to replace.
either order them from rock auto, parts train, a salvage yard... you're driving a Grand Am, not a Bentley... pieces are easy and cheap.

grand prix on the other hand were so notorious for headlight cataracts, they were the first thing to be removed at the yard

I'm not happy with the headlight performance either, hence why I'm thinking upgrade vs direct replacement. Even the time I had them mostly clean, they didn't illuminate the road very well. Now they are so foggy, I can barely see ahead at all.

I've done this on a few MK4 VWs, and it workes great... wet sand with 1500 grit, then 2000 grit, and then use a buffer w/polish. They'll look like new.
