Instead of taking real photos, I decided I'd whip up some nice beamshots, to remind myself what kind of light I get out of my diffusers. It might have been helpful to have something in the foreground, but oh well, such is the way unplanned stuff goes!
So, first, some shots with a Quark AA2, neutral tint.
Now, with the Fenix flip-down diffuser
And with the good 'ol Fenix dildo
The flip-down diffuser is remarkably useful. I used it last night in some real shots, after shooting these, and it worked better than I expected. The dildo completely kills throw, while the flip-down retains it enough for the light still to be directional.
Now, the same thing, with the RGB. The RGB is all spill, and has very little throw.

The main reason for diffusing the RGB is to soften the light; even though it's pure flood, it isn't diffuse, and shadows are sharp.
