This has probably been done before, but I though I might share a little project I had. I've been experimenting a lot recently with light painting in drains, and have gotten fairly decent results, but I decided I need a little more color in some of my shots.

I work on the Theater tech crew at my school, and we have lots of miscellaneous light gel filters laying around. During tonight's rather dull dress rehearsal, I threw together an interchangeable color filter rig on the end of one of my less important torches, and I'm surprised by how well it works. (Especially seeing as I spent $0 on it)

Here's a few pictures of it:

I'm ridiculously excited for for some light painting now!
Do any of you use something similar to this?

Apple and I did something similar, except we didn't have access to gels, so we were even more ghetto and used sharpies and masking tape. Produced a nice effect though.

Got to love a ghetto lighting solution! I used to just put gels over my lights with rubber bands, before I picked up the Quark RGB...

I must admit that I don't use colours all that much. But I got a Lee Filters swatchbook that I cut apart, I keep the individual sheets in a little case ready to go. They fit over the head of my flash unit perfectly and the pull-out panel keeps em in place nicely.

saying please goes a long way.

Watch when you have the gels pressed right up against the flash like that.....if you shoot at low ISOs and mid range apertures it's possible to melt the gels to the flash. Let me tell you it is not fun trying to clean it off.
