All set. Anyone using my chrome extension can go their extensions window and click "Update Extensions Now", and it should switch to Humbug 1.2. Alternately, the latest version is available at http://www.kevinku...mbug1_0/humbug.crx

Yeah, he broke it again. I can think of a few ways to twart it, but it won't be until this evening. I'm going to keep working because it's fun, but if you're using these scripts, expect them to break every day or so as AV screws with us. A good alternative is:

Yeah, he broke it again.

If he changed purposely filenames again or something similar he's being a cunt.

He's got the page generating random div id's server-side, he's checking to see if the reindeer and santa are disabled, and he's checking for the presence of jquery.

redirected to lemonparty if you fail any of the tests.

Well, I did put "//Your move, AV." in the last update.

For reference, AV's first break was to have the christmas elements use randomized IDs (eg, ZJJQESYs or cZJJQESY). To fix this, I just killed his script entirely by replacing his function (hackChecker = function(){}). Now he's randomized the function name. I've got a few thoughts on blocking it- I'll tackle them tonight when I get back from class.

Lol, don't motivate him!

My slacker solution: Disable javascript and AdBlockPlus the holiday imagery. It leaves fruity colored menubar icons on the left, but oh well.

I'm blocking you because I don't appreciate people hacking around with the content of my site. The Christmas theme is part of what makes UER fun and interesting and unique. There are plenty of "legit" ways around it, the easiest one being using a different 'fid' to view the site in another interface.

Just enjoy the damn holiday theme already. It's only 10 more days until Christmas.

I'm blocking you because I don't appreciate people trying to block the overly annoying parts of my website and I want to force these things upon you. I'd rather spend time stopping you from having an enjoyable time here rather than just listening to my users. The Christmas theme is annoying and I have fun trolling my users with it. There are plenty of "legit" ways around it, the easiest one being using a different 'fid' to view the site in another interface which is pretty ugly rather than just blocking things you don't like to see.

Just enjoy the damn holiday theme already, even if you don't like/celebrate Christmas or think my theme is annoying as shit. I don't care what you think and if you don't like it you can piss off.

Your words, not mine.

Anyway, there's still ways to block it... I'm enjoying this game. I could have just deleted these posts and banned Makman if I was really a jerk.

Well of course! As anyone who's been going over the dom about once a day for the last week (as pianissimo and I have) would know about the hidden button! We just chose not to use it because, well, where's the fun in that.

A matter of opinion.

And banning someone for trying to create a more pleasurable surfing experience for those who don't like it, would just be wrong.

Thats why I didn't ban anyone. I know the theme is annoying, but it is also a hell of a lot of fun (especially people like yourselves' reaction to it!)
