Odd things I noted about UrbExers… they seem somewhat infatuated with the topic of zombies. I was going to post this video on the tutorials page, but maybe it’s best debuted here:

Hey, I work in the basement of an old building vying for space with the coach roaches. It’s only natural that I’d have disturbing dreams.

Well, it could just be for fun, and yes it could be the latter... i guess it's also an introduction to me as a n00b on UER and my beliefs as mentioned in the video.

But, it sure seems like the world is gearing up for… something. Do we blow it off as the natural flow of history, or is it the culmination of signs before a major event?

Something I've always been confused about regarding these post apocalypse scenarios with their pastel colors and picnic fun is what will the lions, wolves and other predators eat in such blissfully peaceful surroundings? Or do predators in the animal kingdom not pass muster in the re-animation game?

...do predators in the animal kingdom not pass muster...?

This is why I didn’t lead the post in a specific direction – wanted to see what comes up.

Interesting question – didn’t see that one coming.
In the book of Genesis, before the “fall of man”, there was no death (of creature with “breath”). All vegetation was for food – no carnivores, hence, after the apocalypse the lion will lay with the lamb again (keep the thoughts clean).

PS
If the coach roaches survive, still won’t be much “picnic fun”.

Your wish is my command.

The bible is full of the zombies. Behold:

Isaiah (hide - the zombies, or the JWs are coming)

26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.
26:21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

Ezekiel (Army of darkness, or evil dead? you decide)

37:7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.
37:8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them.
37:9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.
37:10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.
37:11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.
37:12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel.

1 Kings (Elijah's Son, Zombie Jr)

17:17 And it came to pass after these things, that the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, fell sick; and his sickness was so sore, that there was no breath left in him.
17:18 And she said unto Elijah, What have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?
17:19 And he said unto her, Give me thy son. And he took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into a loft, where he abode, and laid him upon his own bed.
17:20 And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
17:21 And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child's soul come into him again.
17:22 And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.

Matthew (Zombies wandering the streets of jerusalem)

27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

1 Corinthians (Jesus the Zombie)

15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
15:21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

John (Lazarus: Ultimate Bible Zombie, my fav!!!!!!I skipped the boring parts.)

11:14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

11:17 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

11:35 Jesus wept (cuz of the stink, see below)

11:39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

11:43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

11:44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

(totally plausible)

This "all vegetation was for food-no carnivores", lions laying down with lambs part will require significant changes in the physiology of the lion and all predators with canine teeth. They're really not cut out for chewing cud. And what about an extra stomach or two thrown in, to help eek out all nutrients to support those big critters.

My local Witness tells me there will be blackflies and mosquitoes this literally and figuratively sucks. There can be no paradise that includes these two imo.

I’m not an end times expert, but this is how I understand it to be:

For 1000yr after the apocalypse, death will be possible, but life spans will be significantly longer (perhaps the vapor barrier around the planet will be restored, etc.). If death is still possible, insects of unsavory nature may still be required. Many animals can eat both, but for those that can’t, if someone can create matter from nothing by speaking (as implied by the Hebrew word translated “created” in Gen1) this probably won’t be difficult for Him to resolve.

After that 1000yr, the earth will be recreated. Our “physical” bodies will be in a different form. There will be no more procreation (i'm sure something fantastic will replace it). Don’t know what plant and animal life will be like at that point.

And, (I know it’s an old joke but…) it’s a good thing Jesus called Lazarus by name, otherwise all the dead would have come out.

yeah, totally dude.

One thing strikes me as odd though. All this impossible stuff happens like:

all these folks rising from the dead - technically impossible - only happening in the first century to mud people and blacksmiths, yet not one shred of proof exists today that would stop the whole debate cold.

I gotta say I'm about as afraid of zombies coming as I am of jesus or the apocalypse showing up.

I do believe in monsters though. They are called religious zealots and they have tortured and brutally murdered millions of people throughout history. They live. They are out there stalking reason right now!

BTW, I'm pretty your god can't resolve anything. After all, him thinks pi is 3, slavery is cool, and burnt offerings is a cure for leprosy, and is so illiterate that him can't even write him's own book, thus setting men at each others throats for centuries...

another thing that is troubling, in the biological sense, is that this god fella also thought that every living animal in existence lived within walking distance of noah's house.

Would dinosaurs be too far off-topic?

Sigh, someone should have warned Notlost that the religion forum was really the religion bashing forum. We don't debate here. We just find out new and different ways to blame religion, and Christians in particular for all the problems of the world. Go figure.

...the religion forum was really the religion bashing forum...

Actually I kind of expected that - another reason I didn’t lead off with a topical direction. Funny how anti-war protests are the ones to become violent, and how Christians are labeled bigoted and closed minded, yet we accept their right to make their choices, they would make Christianity illegal given the chance (and, of course will). Religious discussion almost always turns from logical peaceful debating to name calling. I never once called Darwin an effin ahole or anything of the like, yet I get that a lot.

Many believe aliens have technology beyond our comprehension – but when applied to god or religion it’s termed a miracle and impossible. One valid point was made: “not one shred of proof exist that could stop the whole debate cold”. Course, what would I know, I was brainwashed as a child to believe in a superior being …yes, I grew up in a home that called itself Christian, but wasn’t. It fell apart, and so did any potential belief in god. I believed you were born, died, & fertilizer. Wasn’t till 30 that, for whatever reason (maybe this very post – no, not likely) I was drawn …almost felt involuntarily at the time.

Yes, millions perform heinous acts in the name of god, but those acts contradict how God describes himself. The only people who are stalking reason are those who insult instead of reasonable debate.

I’d love to discuss dinosaurs and the arc, like things in the Bible that state: it had never rained till that point; no damage from UV because of the filtering effect of the vapor barrier; slightly higher oxygen content and atmospheric pressure; long life spans (how large would a reptile grow in 300yrs); fossils exist of dinosaur and mans footprints together; there was only one single land mass at the time (no prob for the animals to get to the ark); the arc had the same capacity as about 45 rail cars – WAY more than enough to house 1pr of one bread of all young land animal & the food required, and they could have been in a state of hibernation.

Yes, I did expect it, but no, I’m not going to waste my time posting a serious reply (well, after this one) only to have expletives thrown my way. I’ll still visit it on occasion, though, in case anyone does want to have a conversation.

JeepDave – I’m running into you a lot on UER. U ever get to PA, look me up (you gotta come to Rausch Creek), & I’ll let you know if I’m coming down.

There ya go! Now you're using good logic and real intelligent thinking stuff.

How large would a reptile grow in 300 years? I guess the answer would be "8 ft long and 600 kg" since the reptiles that currently live 150 years grow to half that size. I'm glad that we were able to come to such a scientific conclusion.
