I ordered a couple lasers from DX (my first order with them) a while back. They shipped on November 24th and I still haven't seen them ... is this typical for orders from DX???

I usually get stuff two to three weeks after shipment in Australia, but things do slow down towards this time of year.

You're a lot closer to HK than we are.

I hope you didn't order ones over 5 mW or they aren't going to show up at all.

Buy a high-power diode and put it together? The electronics are pretty simple if you can solder. It's only illegal to buy a ready-to-use laser pointer (simple clicky button with no safeties and interlocks) in the US.

I've built higher power myself ... I just meant I wish it was that easy to get one ready made. Just need to buddy up to some Canadians ....

Don't be too sure about the lasers!

I ordered two 0.5mW lasers a while back, and just ended up with a nasty letter from Australian customs. Both had tested around 6mW each!

(the Australian limit is currently 1mW)
