I definitely want to see it.

Just rewatched Tron for the first time in probably 20 years. It really held up well I think. I'm afraid, though, that Tron Legacy will be a steaming pile of crap.

Tron was made at a time when computers were still mysterious and a bit scary. most of the population back then did not have one in their home and few had really used one. I don't know how tron legacy is going to get around the fact that people are no longer innocent of technology.

I would too. Only because I was 25 before I saw the original Tron, I'd like to see the story actually end this time.

i think that's the angle that the movie is going for is that technology is such a part of our lives, how could we live without it?
i mean, in 1982, when the original Tron was released, computers were something out of science fiction. they were clunky tools that more often than not didn't work the way they were supposed to and most people didn't 'get' it. Tron was indicative of that.
Now here we are 28 years later and technology, for many of us, is our lives. We don't just use machinery, we live with machinery. From the trailers and sneaked footage I have seen thus far, i think this is a concept that the movie is addressing.

Custom-built, street-legal ‘Tron Light Cycle’ promises a power ride

Florida-based bike store Legacy has rolled out 10 custom-built Tron Light Cycles that featuring a steel frame and fiberglass bodywork look almost identical to each other. Powered by a V-twin engine from the Suzuki TLR1000, the bikes are about 100 inches long and 23 inches wide and weigh 474 pounds. Placing the rider 28.5 inches off the ground, the Tron Light Cycle comes with either actual gauges or an iPad dock that displays vital statistics on the iPad’s touchscreen to enhance your riding experience. Priced at $55,000, the Light Cycles employ a custom-made friction drum capable of producing influential stopping power at high speeds. Though the bike appears highly influenced by the big screen, Jeff Halverson of Parker Brothers Choppers has completely different opinion about it.

We basically used the images we could get off the web in order to make the bike. Keep in mind, no one ever made this bike before. It rides like any sportbike, though we’ve gotta wonder with that huge front tire. Still, we’d welcome the chance to ride one to find out.

I saw this yesterday, and it was good fun. Go in and say "oooh" and "aaah" a lot at the light cycles and people shattering when they're destroyed, and the plain awesomeness of the neon-fringed black glassy aesthetic.

Dialogue is cheesy, and what little plot there is makes no sense at all, but none of that matters. You're in this one for the ride.

eXistenZ?!? What a piece of crap that was. Worse than Crash and Cronenberg's low point. Go rent Spider or his early horrors like Rabid and Shivers for classic Cronenberg. But eXistenZ? My goodness. Even the mediocre Tron: Legacy is better!

Saw it opening day and loved it. Was it as good as the original? Hell no, and that says something about the original.
I laughed about the soundtrack, did anybody else?
