Im sorry mom treats you that way. But i know youre a smart guy and I know you can see the good beyond the bad. I know you have seen or heard of someones faith helping them more so than they could ever do for themselves. You've heard of churches opening their doors to families when tragedy strikes. Hell the salvation army is a religious group. and chick fil a has a strong connection to religion, and delicious chicken sandwiches. not everyone in every religion is bad. As for the facts he presented. eh. some were facts, most were hyperbole (just liek ever christian has done on here too). im not saying hes wrong to believe what he does. no one is wrong in what they believe unless the are some form of a hate group. christians are no worse than anyone else. theres just more of them so its easier to spot them.

real christians, or real devotees to any faith, dont force their beliefs on others. its the hypocrites that. the loudest most obnoxious ones are the ones we see. there was a thing i read once about human nature. if you hold the door for 100 people and 99 say thank you and 1 doesnt. you remember the 1 who didnt. its doesnt mean the 99 people were ungrateful or didnt say thank you. we just tend to remember the bad.

they werent a real christian. they were one of those mouthpieces for hate. theres gay in chattanooga who dresses up like jesus every year at a week long music concert called Riverbend. he holds up a sign saying "You're going to hell if you're..." then lists basically everyone on the planet. He is not a real christian. he thinks he is, but isnt. to be a real christian to be christ like. and jesus was a cool dude. he never did anything bad towards anyone. when people accept you and accept the differences in everyone, then they are real christians. as for other what makes a true devotee of other religions, sadly i dont know bc i was never a member of any other religion.

i was raised a catholic, but got to a point where I was so disgusted with it, i couldn't stomach going. My father, who is a combative atheist as I am, finally told my mother to cut the shit and leave me alone. And that was that. I was actually concerned about my lack of faith and several excellent discussion with a priest that lived in my town. I'll never forget this guy; Father John Looby. If more people could be like this cat, the world would be firing on all 8 cylinders.

exactly! there a great people who are members of religion and great who arent. either way no one is wrong. i wasnt raised in the church, but when my mom remarried we went to church. i quit being a christian bc on a mission to NYC they wanted us to convert jews to christianity. even at 16 i knew that was wrong and said so. they said i was wrong and going to hell. so i said, when we get back home i am never coming to back to your church. and i havent stepped foot in a church since. they were wrong. they preacher you spoke with, was not. by the way my moms side of the family was catholic and one of my aunt son that side is a lesbian. in fact she got married to her wife when the first legalized it. and i think she is still a catholic. but i have once a catholic always a catholic bc even if you dont go to mass you still have the guilt.

You know what I find really funny? That a lot of those mystical alchemical theories, stuff like the "four elements" that seem so much like psuedoscience these days actually have analogs to modern scientific theories. I'll use the four elements as a for instance:

The four elements from which everything was made were (in this order, ascending) earth, water, air and fire, and there is the ether in which everything takes place.

The four states of matter are (levels of ascending kinetic energy) Solid, liquid, Gas and Plasma. Also, there's this invisible stuff that it turns out that most of the universe is made of called dark matter... It sounds a hell of a lot like some "pseudoscience" from 3000 years ago. I mean, it wasn't until relatively recently that fire was determined to produce this ionized gas state of matter we call plasma.

There are a hell of a lot of examples of this in some strange sounding occult teachings. Whats this I hear about entanglement?

You're absolutely right. The thing is, though, SCIENCE questions science. Otherwise it wouldn't be science.

I do find it interesting that people who rag on science also enjoy its fruits. Like the Internet, the internal-combustion engine or not drinking out of the toilet.
