If I want to order from deal extreme, what do i need to know?
are they trustworthy, are their products actually as good as the reviews say?
if i order a laser, is there a limit that would prevent it from being delivered to me..?
I have heard that any lasers, over a certain power will not make it across border, or be allowed to be shipped...?

Trustworthy. Delivery is slow (but free). Quality is hit and miss.

I ordered one of their 200mw lasers a year or so ago.. Even posted a review on here.

I was happy with it- until I sold it to a friend.. (doh!)

as others mentioned quality is hit and miss with that company.. Always deburr the threads on their flashlight products and also add some Vaseline to the threads to lessen friction, (trust me) hydrate the seals (if any) and also make it "that much more" waterproof... (lol)

I've also purchased various other items from them- Overall I have about a 5-8% failure rate. They are good with replacing items for me- but than again I drop about $500.00 annually with them. When I first was purchasing I had issues with warranty returns... Don't know if the change is due to my spending habits with the company, or just customer service got better..

Canada Customs never dinged the laser when I bought it- IIRC, it was marked as a flashlight tool or something of the sort.

Expect about 3-7 weeks for shipping time.

I don't think I was looking for a laser quite of that caliber.. just something a bit more recreational...
and as for the lights, i dont plan on spending any big bucks... i cant be bothered to go through the trouble of returning the stuff... so if its hit and miss, i might pass on it... but the prices do look very appealing..

If you don't mind blowing $25 on a light that'll almost certainly please you, grab the RC-N3-II from Shiningbeam. Their Romisens seem to be of better quality than those on DX and decent shipping and return times. If you can only spare $16, try this (clearance)

I paid $40 for a 200 lumen Dorcy @ Lowes and it's outlasted every other shit $20 light of equal power from DX. I don't buy lights from them anymore because it was really hit and miss. I've dropped mine and dunked it and haven't had an issue.

It's worth to note- with DX I've never been asked to return a broken item- only send them a few clear images of the issue (and image of the envelope/box it was shipped in)

I'm a huge DX addict. I've been pleasantly surprised by every flashlight I've bought from them, and I think I've bought somewhere around 7 green lasers from them now (all 5mw). My friends saw my first one and demanded I pick some up for them.

I've bought heaps of stuff from DX. Certainly trustworthy, but in terms of product quality, you get what you pay for. Usually, the tradeoff is in reliability and construction. Obviously, DX aren't the manufacturer, just the retailer, so there's quite a variation in how worthwhile their products are.

The cheap flashlights all fail sooner or later - the switches in particular tend to break. DX do sell cheap switch assemblies, though, if you were inclined to fix it To be honest, I wouldn't buy any more cheap lights; I'd put my money into something more reliable.

I have a couple of their little cheap gorillapods and they're much like the real thing, but perhaps a cheaper grade of plastic. No regrets here, these are great for holding flashlights.

That's good advice. Having a light in some places is vital at times, and having one fail can leave you in a tough spot...(carrying a backup light is wise).

I've personally never had a DX light fail, and I've put each of mine through hell, but I would never trust them to the extent of my Fenix headlight.

I would spend the money on a fenix or 4 sevens light instead. The quark mini123 is the best money I've spent on a EDC flashlight. 200 lumens on high and 8 lumens for 150+ hours out of something smaller than your thumb is awesome.
