just did the rear parking brake shoes, rotors, and pads on the vic. pretty damn simple (except the parking brakes... those had limited space since i couldn't remove the axle rods).

now the front pads are up for a change soon. are ceramics worth it? ebc's are out of the price range but bendix and baer are doable. so do they really make a difference? or would i be fine with just some decent semi-metallics?

Semi Metallic for street cars. Any discussion after this should be solely for entertainment.

With a Vic, might I suggest a anchor to improve braking performance.

seriously, unless you're into racing yachts, the plain old pads and rotors are fine.

I used to service our local police cars, and even they used regular plain Jane pads on their CVPIs.

Wouldn't that be due to their budget?

Thats interesting bandi. I know Portland Police Bureau puts in ceramics on their CVPIs and what I have been told, ceramic brake pads are OEM equipment from the Ford plant in St Thomas, ON.

they weren't on the Caprices (which are WAY faster than the Vickies are). I can't see a NEED for ceramics on a Vickie as they really can't get past 120-125mph without breaking something.

It's kind of a grey area... car manufacturers can't, but aftermarket can use a certain amount.
