I hate winter drivers

I didn't say I hate winter driving... I said that I hate winter DRIVERS!

If you can't drive at least half the speed limit - leave the road
If you must brake around every curve - leave the road
If you can't get up a hill with traffic behind you because your tires are garbage - leave the road
If you can't see the road because you're too lazy to remove the snow from your vehicle - leave the road

Just get the fuck out of my way!

I choose to spend my money on a vehicle and tires capable of handling the weather where I live. If you must limp around all winter (yes our winter is several months long with snow the whole time) because your car isn't ready for snow - get off the road!!!

PS if you live in an area that normally has only a little snow and below freezing temperatures, you are exempt from my rant, no one expects you to have winter tires and experience.

I live in SC, I have learned driving in the winter is just like driving in the summer. USE YOUR FUCKING BRAIN. So Nvr, you may exempt them if you wish, I on the other hand hold them to the same damn standard.

Also, if the roads are dry and there is just a few flurries...this doesn't mean drive like you're in the middle of nowhere on ice covered back roads.

I drove faster when I lived in Northern Ontario a year and a bit ago on shitty, slippery roads than some of the people I encounter on the roads in Toronto...which 99% of the time are just wet. The roads here in Toronto are far better de-iced and taken care of than any of the roads anywhere else I've lived. There is no reason to drive 20km/h.

I'd love to chime in here but I can't just now. Because apparently my car didn't appreciate the -35 temperature and three feet worth of snowblowingeverywherebutstraightup about a week ago. Hasn't started since. Now THAT is a piss off as well.

One of my friends lives in Edmonton, he works for a company based out of the Toronto Area. He does service for all of Edmonton and surrounding area, he is the only employee there, so he must handle all calls. His work truck, that the company owns, keeps refusing to start due to the cold and refuses to move due to the crappy all season tires with over 120,000km wear on them. Every time the truck won't start, he has been told to boost it or let it warm up for awhile. It is a large Sprinter that won't fit inside his garage, and they refuse to install a block heater or do any maintenance on the truck... he feels like banging his head against a wall every time he has to deal with the boss in Toronto. They finally agreed to put new tires on the truck for him, but they had to tow it to the shop because it wouldn't start. His boss was happy, thought if it sat in the shop for a few hours and warmed-up, it would start.... but what about the next time??? He needs to visit Edmonton for a couple days in the middle of January to see the difference between Southern Ontario and the rest of Canada.

i see this here all the time... it's like "YOU LIVE IN THE FUCKING ADIRONDACKS! WE GET SNOW! DRIVE YOUR FUCKING CAR!" When I can go 40+mph on BF Goodrich 60-series tires without fear or hesitation, and you're struggling in a fucking 4x4 truck/SUV, stop driving. just turn your fucking license in.

I'd never had to use a block heater until I moved here. But yeah,if your friend doesn't have one on his truck he's pretty much screwed. I have delightful all season tires too, just lovely for our roads that get smoothed down to an ice rink, not plowed.

a ghetto engine block heater is to take a lightbulb (leadlight will work). Set it on the engine block. One of my friends had the UBER ghetto engine block heater- it was an old hotplate he put under the oil pan. His old Citation started every time

I've never HAD to use a block heater, but it would be a lot nicer on those mornings when it is -28 C here (that is well below 0 F for our American friends)

I don't have one on my truck now, but I've had them on other trucks and they worked great.

Never used a block heater on my diesel Jetta. Started up even when it was -32 C last week when I was at home.

Yeah, my truck started in that cold spell last week too. It just isn't very nice to see a 2010 puffing a little bit of black smoke for the first minute after starting, and it takes a little longer to start when that cold. It would also be nice to have heat before making it all the way to work LOL.

My 2007 Caravan has a hard time starting in this cold, it takes about 5 seconds of cranking the engine to get it to go. I never drive that van, so it is only started to move it around the driveway to keep it out of the way of my snow plowing. It is more likely a weak battery, but it sure hates the cold.

Here in the Toronto area, we've been spared the kind of snow that other areas have really been deluged with. Yet still some drivers cannot drive properly.

99% of the time, it's OTHER DRIVERS, not the road conditions.
