I like the mustang, I like the corvette (if you put some ones head between the 2 exhaust pipes on a z06 with headers and redline the gas they will throw up) but it just seems for the most part domestic cars are always a few years behind

I think the Corvette is the most over rated car in the world. Everyone who owns one think they have a fucking supercar... it's got push rods, it's held together by glue, and has leaf springs in the front and the rear. And the interior build quality is the same as a '99 Silverado. I had a few customers with current generation 'Vettes when I worked for GM, and thought they all felt like 1980s Camaros.

Yeah, they're fast as hell, but just so disappointing to drive.

They did do a nice job on the new Camaro.

Chevy truck commercials piss me off. If you drop a few tons worth of gravel into the bed of a pickup from 10 feet in the air, shit is going to break. God dammit!

Its all about price Bandi. And for the price, if you just care about going fast and having fun, its the best buy out there.

The trick is not to piss off the guy running the 100 ton open pit mining grade massive loader at the gravel yard. Pour it slow

My brother made the mistake once of getting on the bad side of the loader driver.
Still nothing broke in his '79 half ton Chev. I think the old frames were a lot heavier though.

My truck would be considered a worn out beater not worth much by most people, but bonds are made, jobs done well. We all understand the faithful friend of a vehicle on here.

True though, ads are often fake. That boat in the ad could be made of balsa wood.

They'd be an incredible car if it wasn't for the people who owned them.

Ugh... especially the people who have mid 80's 'vettes with faded red paint, chrome directional wheels and one broken pop-up headlight who think they have a fucking Veyron eater.

the same could be said for idiots that have Porsche 924's, 944's and Boxsters who think the cars are fast and that they're The Stig's little brother...

Strongly agree. I love the 944 and the Boxster... and they're impressive... both will outhandle a lot of higher priced cars, and will do 150 mph, but you should have to take an intelligence test before talking about one if you buy it.

What about Cobalt SS owners?

unfortunately, it is an entry level car and despite its pretty high level of performance for the money, its going to attract some customers of, shall we say, a certain caliber.

the greatest thing about my car is it WILL show a Boxster tailights.

Lets all slap RS stickers and stripes and cute blue lightning bolts all over our car, and talk about how we arent like the rest of them.

meh
if i cared what you or all the other assholes out there thought, i would've quit this board a long time ago.
i like my car. I know i can drive it.
you don't like it, don't look at it...

let's see... does my car fit the criteria of a ricer?
-decals for parts from manufacturers that I don't have? Nope
-fart cannon muffler? Nope.
-tinted windows? Nope.
-lowered to the ground with the tops of the wheels cocked in 45-degrees? nope.
-Stereo with thundering bass cranked up? nope.
-Aftermarket wheels that cost more than a Bentley? nope.

So what makes Dave hate my car?
-it's not a Nissan or other import
-it's a Chevrolet.
-it's a Chevrolet.
-it's a Chevrolet.
-i chose to do something to it that's very polarizing.

I didn't like the silver trim on the interior and bought a trim kit from GM Aftermarket. Like it or hate it...
-i got bored with the way the car looked so I had "SS" stripes painted on it. I had the rockers painted the same color to tie the car together.
-headlight covers are a bit 90's, admittedly, but I like them... sue me.
-painting the taillights with the Nite Shades... wellllll... not a great idea, but when it was fresh, it looked sweet.

And this is what Dave was hemming and hawing about:

And the last thing he was bitching about was my 05 Cobalt... I was bored with having a base coupe and thought it would be fun to build my own "RS" package. Right before I traded it for my SS, i found an upholstery shop in Burlington was going to upholster my seats like they old 80's Camaro RS seats.

Braaaaaaaaaap wrong. I dont hate your car. I dont care for Nissans any more than any other cool car. I like some Chevrolets, like some Fords, love Porsches, like a little bit of everything from everyone.

But, i dont think you can drive as well as you think.

i do drive as well as I think, but I want to drive better... there are some things that I do that I need to work. My entry speed into corners is a little too fast and sometimes I have to go for the brakes. i can't heel-toe to save my life and I can't speed shift (afraid for the life of my transaxle). But, I do have an excellent feel for what's going on with a car. I am really good at handling, um, more creative maneuvers that would make your gramma piss her pants, and i can launch pretty good in the odd drag race (boring).

That's only because your car isn't meant for drag racing. Dollars to doughnuts that if you were drag racing in a car designed for it (like your buddy's Mustang) you would love it.

That is not a stab at your car. I like it very much. It is a road racer though, not a drag racer.
