How do you like the tokina? I would like a prime closer to 50mm on a crop body. I like my cheap canon 50 outside but I don't like it indoors for portraits can't get far enough away sometimes. Also how do you like your fisheye? I've always wanted a fish but not canon's 15mm on a crop body and definitely not for $600+ dollars.

I love my fisheye, and I'd probably buy the 8-16mm L if I could afford it. I've come to realize that none of the cheap wide angles are sharp. The 10-20mm is soft even in perfect focus. The Samyang is soft even in perfect focus too.
I probably should have went with the Tokina 11-16mm. I just don't think I'll find cheap glass I'm happy with.
Fisheye 8mm:
pro:
Pro-optic variant at Adorama is the cheapest available $279.99
Color rendition is EXCELLENT. My 10-20 is always undersaturated the 8mm is very color rich and vibrant.
cons:
minimum focusing distance 1 ft
manual focus only and no AF confirmation
EF-S digital only (petals get in way on 35mm unless you forcibly remove the hood).
Meh:
build quality
exposed element (it's unavoidable)
sharpness
Tokina 35mm:
Pro:
Price $279.99 adorama/bhphotovideo
Very Sharp even at f/2.8
Very nice color rendition
1:1 macro (meaning it can focus on something directly in front of the lens (flash/tripod required for exposure))
very easy to manual focus
size/weight
cons
autofocus blows on a rebel (not as bad as the 50/1.8) with a 7D it'd be better (I couldn't get focus confirmation on my EOS-3 but the 3 spun the focus ring about three times as fast as the rebel ... i.e. the rebel just sucks at focusing).
EF-S digtal only -- crazy outta focus on film camera.
barrel distortion (though less than competing models)
Meh:
35mm on Canon APS-C = 56mm (compare to 52.5mm on Nikon)
build quality (again better than cheap canons)
It looks stupid with a filter(I thinl).
