The little dog who got lost

About 6 months ago, I adopted a 4 month old puppy. A rat terrier mix as a friend for my lab. This thing was a little wild child, and a smart cookie at that. After a break-up, I was forced to adopt her out to another family. From a few following conversations with her, the family seemed very happy with her, I was thrilled.
Last night while I was driving, I received a phone call from "petwatch" asking me if I lost my dog... I say, "Nope, I just left the house and the dog was there" The lady told me that the microchip number was matched to my name and she would double check then call me back if necessary. After hanging up the phone, it occured to me the puppy that I adopted out could be the dog she was referring to. Panic set in. Another call from her and I asked if the dog was a black and white rat terrier mix. "yes". Oh gawd, the lady never registered her. I lost all my contacts on my phone about a month ago so I had no way of calling her. I informed petwatch that I would email 'Michelle' and tell her you were bringing her dog to the spca. So I email her & hear nothing until about 11PM last night. She called me out of breath, panicky, asking me where she can find her dog. the puppy had dug a hole under the fence and escaped around 5pm that night. (Petwatch called me around 6-630) 'Michelle' was very grateful and I will be keeping more in touch with her in the future.

This morning, everything was finalized, dog is registered to 'Michelle' and home safe with her. I am SO glad I didn't have to re-home the dog again... Everything worked out ok and all is well in the world again.

Thanks, I'm super happy she didn't let the dog loose on purpose. I would have felt horrible, there was no way I was going to let her go back to the shelter. I would have had to do a much more intricate screening system in re-adopting out!
