The 2 door hatch is what I'm considering. I don't really consider it so much an off road toy as a all weather commuter.

Oh, nice. I love those weird little things. I almost had a wagon once, but the guy sold it out from under me.

Well the fella had it listed for $1200, and some dealer came by and got it for $800. He was nice enough to give me the dealers number, and that jackoff wanted $3500. Told him to burn in hell. Looking for another one dammit.

That's the sex... I had an Eagle, but I wasn't lucky enough to find an SX4.

(Mine was a baby blue 1980 sedan, with blue shag carpet and a dark blue landau top)

The Eagle was AWESOME! A friend of mine in HS inherited his father's 1988 Eagle Wagon, which his father bought brand new back in the day. That my friend was a nice ride.

And yes bandi, MOAR WOOD PANEL! I dunno why, but I didn't find AMC's wood panel as cheezy as anyone else.

Also remember, the Eagle was the first AWD sedan/wagon in the US long before Subaru came to US...and the transfer case used in the Eagle later went on to be reused as the NP-242 transfer case in the Jeep lineup.

I always thought that the Eagle could resurrected under the Jeep name to be the Jeep Eagle (get it? har har har!) with a combination of the Chrysler LX platform and using a beefed up version of the Jeep Freedom Drive II drivetrain.

Yeah, I remember when Subaru really started pushing their cars in the late 90's, introducing the first "Sport Utility Wagon"... I actually wrote a letter to Road and Track (or maybe car and driver... don't remember) about how realistically, the Eagle was, and they published it!

Was that in 97 or 98? I swear I remember reading a letter like that in one of those mags lol. Memories a little fuzzy but I want to say it was R&T.

Bandi, THATS GOLD!

I know Subaru got a lot of comments basically calling them liars when they used to advertise with Paul Hogan and used the tagline "the world's first sport utility wagon" which actually, that title goes back to to 1946 with the Willys Jeep Station Wagon. So another victory for the war-winning Jeep

But what do you expect from a Japanese car that was brung over to America by the guy who created the Bricklin SV-1
