Perfect car to keep as-is and enjoy $5 gas lasting a week.

Pretty much the plan. I'm gonna fix all the small issues ( Like carpet, paint, etc ) Change the timing belt, and pretty much enjoy it. I may rebuild the carb, but only if it gets aggravating. Turned the AC on today, it blew out cool, but not ice cold like I like it so I will be addressing that also. But so far, for $560 total investment, I'm not bitching. Filled it up today, and averaged 44.21 MPG. Cost me $22 to fill it up and I went 320 miles. Loving it.

Well, a guy offered me a $1000 cash tonight. I think he would go $1500. Should I? I only have about $600 in it total now. Tempted.

No, not at that price. Tell him with the cost of gas and the amazing economy of that car, it's worth at least $2500. Settle at about $2000. Invest that $2000 in another econobox and flip it, too.

Heres what happens when you sell an econobox. You end up back in your gas guzzler and spend the money you made from the sale on gas. Happens to me everytime when i plan on saving all the money for another econobox. Money, alllll gone, nothing to show for it. I would keep it with all the oil problems.

Good advice posted on here. Maybe sell if you can make a quick 750.00 +. Or have a line on another Econobox to fix and flip. I'm having a hard time deciding to sell my '95 Tahoe or not.

Gas is now 1.24 per litre. The thing rides like a truck, no wait, it is a truck, and is great if hauling. Otherwise, I just want a diesel Golf, or even gas, Subaru etc. for running around.

Here's the dilemma: The 'Ho is so damn reliable, even at 15 mpg, it's cheaper to run than a 3 cylinder Metro if that thing keeps needing repairs. Anyway, time to try a cheap 4cyl and sell for scrap if it starts needing big repairs.

If possible, keep your gas pig for camping and hauling, and get a runaround car.
This made me smile: Saw an ad for an 01 Prius today for 500.00. Ex Cab, 350km, needs battery. No, it needs an engine...

Arrrgh. Its tough. Its even tougher since I got ol reliable (my 91 Cherokee) sittin out back ready to go. And I always got about 20mpg out of it, so its not a killer on fuel. I dunno. I really like the CRX, but I really would like to invest a little cash in the xj. I'm gonna hold off a lil while, see if the guy calls back. I know I won't go $1000 on it, one not running (needed a carb) sold for $1400 on the net. Thanks for the advice y'all.

I can't say I wouldn't want a Prius. They aren't bad for what they're designed for.

And that is... making their owners look like they thoroughly enjoy soy based beverages, wearing tan slacks and listening to Kenny G while drinking Evian?

My worn out VW Diesel still gets way better mileage and isn't filled with 3 tons of batteries made out of baby seals. And it doesn't look like a slug.

The Prius is the car for people who hate cars... and I fucking hate the Prius.

Yeah, the Prius is a PERFECT appliance car. They get far better fuel economy than anything else if you're stuck in rush hour stop-and-go traffic.

Would I buy something else over a Prius? Yes, just about anything. Would I have a problem being seen in one? Never.

WTF? Is he going downhill both ways? My ex's ZX2 got MAYBE 32 mpg. Granted that was an auto, but still...

I had a 02 Zx2. 5 speed. Got low 40's on the hiway. Mid 30's around town. It was a stripper tho, no power options at all. If you want an example at how much an automatic can hold a car back, look at the 87-93 Mustang 5.0's. My 89 GT 5 speed got easy hi 20's on the interstate and walked all over a buddies car that was damn near my twin except for being an auto.

i remember taking my dad's 84 20th Anniversary Mustang GT to Ohio one summer... out on the roll in 5th gear, it got really great mileage... with a 4 barrel carb! the 89 GT Convertible was pretty good too, but that had a 2.73:1 rear axle.

With my Cobalt SS, it seems the best I can do on the highway is maybe 34-35mpg... during the winter, getting 27mpg is a gift. The Beretta? Bah, 25mpg is considered a gift with that hog.

the ZX2 is a stripped model, Delbert... my operator bought it brand new and passed it down to his son who is still driving it.

In addition to the Prius's drivetrain which annoys me from an engineering standpoint, I can't stand the body style.

Those are pretty funny :p.

A Prius is probably the absolute best car for a drive by shooting.
