Cars are faster these days, but when you get down to brass tacks, it really doesn't matter anyway.

I guess it's all relative to where you live. A car with nothing wrong with it will always be faster than a car that needs a headgasket, or has inaccessible engine components without removing half of the other components, to me. LOL

Nevertheless, I do want to put an LS motor in my Caprice. There is a kit available to adapt a T56 into any Caprice, Impala SS, Roadmaster, or Fleetwood Brougham, and a 5.3 liter makes over 400HP bone stock out of the junkyard with only a cam put in it.

The undercarriage has it's limitations but they're still a blast when set up right, there is no substitution when you need a cruising car so it's fun when they handle well too.
I think I'm just pissed when I see all the brain donors putting huge wheels and lift kits on them, negating the purpose of the car. Wheels over 20", maybe even 18", have no place in performance and do nothing but increase rolling resistance/wear out brakes! I feel it's my purpose to make any car I drive a big FU to those people.

A streetable 12 second car was quite a feat 15 years ago. Now it comes with a warranty. I still prefer the 15 year old version tho

can you tell me how an 11 second 1/4 mile run 10 years is slower than an 11 second 1/4 mile run today? did 11 seconds some how change?

i understand that Stock vehicles have become more powerful and produced faster over time and how it costs less to produce that power now than it did 10 years, but that doesnt change what is a fast car, it simply changes how you made that car fast.

Im going to say its a case of a simple misunderstanding of eachothers posts.

Personally, I would like to see someone do a RS version of a Chevette. I am dead serious. S10 Rallys, 2 door, all black trim, badging, 3.8 V6 and a 5 speed. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

11 seconds is still 11 seconds. the difference is, 10 years ago, it took A LOT to get there. now it's just an air filter and reflash away... if that.
