(not the one i bought, but identical - these pics were better then the ones i took)

BMW X5 4.6is
silver on black leather, sunroof, 20" wheel package, navigation, every option available except the hidden hitch package.

340hp of German SUV sex machine!!

From what I've researched, BMW refused to put an M badge on anything other then a rear wheel drive car to keep with tradition, so they tuned this fucker, and later the 4.8is into what would have been an M badge ride but never branded it.

Delivery Tuesday night! I'm pumped!!!

The final lease payment was made on the Hummer, and after months of driving everything I can think of from sports cars to sedans to SUV's, the Bimmer is what I kept coming back to. I was going to be content with the 4.4 with fingers crossed i'd find a 4.6 or 4.8 on time. Two nights ago, there it was tucked into the garage of a mansion (literally) in Red Deer, parked next to an M3 coupe. Dude had both up for sale and said whichever one went first, he'd keep the other one. I jumped at it! I have about a month with both the BMW and the Hummer before the Hummer gets dropped off for lease return.

Sweet! We're probably going to get rid of my wife's Pilot in the next year and I'm STRONGLY considering an X5. Keep me posted how you like it...

They aint bad, built just down the road from me. But I hope they worked out some of the early models traction issues (I know they use to get stuck on wet leaves in a level yard } Still pretty cool wagons.

Love how the X5 drives and handles, feels like a small car.

Did you have the Hummer crushed/shredded/burned?

i drove the 3.0Litre - it was adequate and peppy..
4.4 litre.... great, tons of power
then i drove a 4.8 and a 4.6 about an hour later..... HOLY FUCK!
The 4.8 had the suspension leveller, two pushes of the button and that thing had zero fender well gap. Mine only has the auto levelling for heavy towing.

the Hummer is a lease return, it's been the full 4 year term. However, oddly enough, they are commanding a bit of a premium out here, everyone is keeping them, especially with low km (mine has 74,000km) and black on black. So, long story short there is a minor bidding war for it between 3 guys. So the end result is going to be that the dude who wants it is going to give me the buyout amount, plus GST, plus $500 bucks. I'll buy it from GM with his money and flip it to him, pocket the $500. He's going to flip me another $500 for all of the aftermarket accessories which is a good deal. he gets the Westin Platinum Step Bars, clear front corners, hitch receiver and the lowering kit.

So at the end of the day, a grand in my pocket

Okay here`s my early take on the beemer

the bad:
it`s a gas whore
the nav is based on 10 year old info - trying to find updated dvds
no in dash cd - 6 disc changer in the rear hatch. tape player in the dash lol
harsh ride, feels every crack and bump, like driving my hummer when it was slammed
radio nav and computer system is impossible to navigate. have to scroll through 3 menus to turn up the fuckin bass
no block heater and its -30 here fairly regularly

the good:
crazy fast compared to anything i`ve ever driven
sports car handling
feels like sitting in a luxo car.... doesn`t feel like an suv at all
super quiet in town and at high speeds
cool feature and programming options. can program the air conditioning to come on while its parked and gets too hot.
xenon lights are awesome

overall, totally fun to drive and loving it. it`s been nice knowing you all, i`m likely to kill myself in this thing as a daily driver. good thing i have a short commute of 2km

I bought an E30 (80's 3 series) that had been rolled at highway speeds... although the car was without a doubt wrecked, there was NO intrusion whatsoever into the passenger compartment, no deformation of anything structural, and all of the glass was intact, save for the windshield being cracked in a few places. Previous owners walked away from the accident.

It was pretty impressive, and it even drove fairly well aside from a very bent rim on the left rear.
