FM Transmitters?

Obviously this is not the ideal forum to post this question but music and driving go hand in hand so maybe some of you can lend me some advice.

My trusty MP3 Player FM Transmitter seems to have died (iRiver AFT-100) and I need a replacement. I bought a Belkin Tunecast Universal from Wal-Mart yesterday but returned it already since the static was awful. My old iRiver was fantastic - no static and clear audio.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a FM Transmitter? I'd prefer a universal one which uses a 3.5mm audio jack so I can use both my iPod and Blackberry, but if something is really good which uses only the iPod jack, I'll consider it.

Thanks!

Try Radio Shack. Last time I got one was from there. But that was a few years ago.

Get the $10 one from Wal-Mart. It has everything you want.

Dave, I'm surprised you don't have that one Pilot had on sale that was "adjustable"

No matter what, a wire will sound better than radio. The Astra has no input, so it makes Johnny 5 sad.

If you are really looking, you can get decent car stereos for cheap. That's the route I would go.

What wannabeotaku said... you can get a great stereo for under $150 now... with an aux input, and a USB port. Most even have Bluetooth connectivity now. Co worker just got one, it's neat, and it was $118.

The only fm transmitter I have heard which was decent was one that you installed inline with the cars antenna coax going into the radio, feeding the fm feed directly. It was decent and not as susceptible to interference but it was around 50$, making them more or less interesting.

Personally, I hate fm transmitters. +1 for radio swap. You can probably grab one with aux off of Kijiji for next to nothing. Even walmart has cheap ass 60$ decks with front aux.

But yeah, TRAINS, if you want a radio swap, that might be an option too. I'm sure Bandi could be bribed to even install it too

And for the record, the Jeep sounds great. I have a Pioneer DEH-P2900MP installed. Will probably upgrade that to something that supports BT audio though.

all fm transmitters are terrible due to your location, unfortunately. finding a truly clear station with no overlaying sound in this part of ontario is impossible.
Go with something along the lines of XM or try a cassette adapter (they tend to sound better but have more problems with breaking quickly)
both of these options are, of course, more expensive. I've never had a problem with my xm though and the bonus is you can use it on a phone or laptop as well.

mine had the Pioneer setup... it sounds pretty good actually. Has the input for your ipod or whatever. I wish it had a USB port, though... it would be better than lugging an zune/ipod or cd's around.
