my first experience in this was in 1996. I stopped at a local Ford dealer and was looking at a 3 year old Mustang coupe (1993 Mustang LX coupe, 2.3L-4speed auto, 37,000 miles). I got out of my 81 Buick Regal coupe and ask the guy how much the Mustang was... he replied, "you can't afford it." and walks away.

uh huh. I drove 18 miles south, tried out a 91 Cavalier RS coupe (2.2L/5gear, 45,000 miles- one owner car) and bought it. The car was about 2k more than the Mustang so the first stop I made was that original dealership where I told them that Christopher Chevrolet thought I could afford it.

Its funny that a Hyundai dealer snubbed Dave, because same thing happened in 2005 to me. I'm sure i posted it on here if you go back far enough. I was in a 2003 Chevy Cavalier coupe that belonged to a friend and I was looking at a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 coupe. I ask the guy if I can look at the car and he looks back and tells me, without even stopping to regard me as a customer, that I couldn't afford it.

Motherfucker.

that kind of shit pisses me off.

Ya know what makes it worse Sam, its a fucking hyundai dealership. I didn't even want a Hyundai. They had a nice lookin 00 Cherokee. I mean, if it was BMW I could kinda see the smug ass attitude, but Hyundai?

I talked to Ronny again today. He went in to look at the Beemer in his winter beater (a 2001 Ford Focus in metallic blue/rust two tone). They wouldn't even talk to him when he walked into the showroom. I know this guy. He makes almost 6 figures a year, but because he wasn't driving a high dollar car, the salesweenies avoided him like the assplague.

Are all high dollar dealerships like this?
or is it just Vermont?

yeah the same happened to me with Audi. I was 20 when I bought my car so of course they didn't take me seriously. So I bought it at an other dealer 2 hours away in Montreal (well, technically Laval) and went back to the first dealer to tell them off with my new car. Oh the satisfaction.

Years ago there was a "kid" i know back in Guelph Ontario where I'm from who had just signed an NHL contract. He was dying for the last gen RX7 - showed up at Guelph Mazda, they wouldn't give him the time of day. He went to Keiswetter Mazda half an hour away, bought it and returned to the dealer in Guelph to show the salesman

They are awesome cars and the 135i sounds amazing with a pipe on it.

Do they sell the hatchback or diesel in the US/Canada? a hatch back M version would be like a new version of the Z3 M Coupe

i talked to Ronny during a rousing bout of Dirt 2 and his car buying fiasco is down to a hateful red 2011 Camaro SS 6speed and a blue Beemer 135 M-package. He liked both cars, just probably going to go with whoever gives him a better deal.

i know... how can someone drive a Camaro and BMW in the same sentence?

Honestly, I think the Camaro is the better car. And I actually like the BMW.

My only beef with the Camaro is that it's just not a comfortable car to me. If it were a car in which I could find a comfortable seating position, then one would be on my radar in a few years.

personally, i liked that 'down in it' feeling of the camaro. It felt like flying a piece of sci-fi hardware.
