Mountain Equipment Co-op in Burlington (Ontario, not Vermont) is carrying a few of the Quark lights now.

They also have one called Filzer Ibeam. 100 lumens for 8 hours, spot to flood, on 2 AA batteries? It's $29 CAD.

I noticed that last time I was in an MEC location. I seem to remember them having 2 or 3 different lights.

On another note, I just ordered a Quark RGB neutral tint....I can't wait to try it out.

Well, I finally got my light.

It seems to be fairly well constructed....definitely better than anything from DX. The neutral tint of the white LED is amazing, I haven't used it for photography yet but I don't think I will be disappointed. I am also really impressed with the low modes which will be invaluable for stealthy explores. Last but not least the red, green and blue emitters will be a lot fun too.

Now for the cons. I ordered the 18650 spare body and ran into an issue when swapping it with the 123 body. The tailcap screws on fine but the head doesn't seem to want to fit...it will start to thread then get stuck about a quarter of the way on. Anyone else have trouble with this? Also when I am trying to change between the different colours the light tends to randomly choose what colour it wants to give me. For example the instructions says it will cycle through red then blue then green but when I am changing colours it will give me say red then green and then red again then maybe green then blue. It seems to be skipping colours in the process of loosening and tightening the head. If that makes sense.

Love the RGB Neutral <3

I tried swapping in a 1x123 body when I first got the thing, and it didn't like me - never did get around to trying an 18650 body. I know what you mean about it cycling through the colours oddly; it does that to me sometimes if I switch it too slowly.

The beam on the RGB, though, is just great in its smooth but not diffuse quality - it was perfect for the dinosaur shot I posted in the other thread.

So that's it, I was just cycling through the colours too slowly. I think I have the hang of it now.

What was the problem you had with the single 123 body?

I take it all back! I'm sitting here with it right now, using the single 123 body, and having no problem at all

Oh, one thing, though - I did make sure to screw the head completely on before I put the battery in, and screwed on the tailcap. Not sure if that mattered, but it kinda seems vaguely like it might.

The problem seems to be that the threads on the 18650 body are faulty. It is difficult to line them up and then when they do it gets about halfway before it gets stuck. I will email 4 sevens and I am sure they will remedy the situation.

Filzer sucks. I took it draining once, and then just some topside stuff and it flickered and died. I believe I have review somewhere on this board about it. It was bright for two AA's, but I wouldn't buy it again.
